Default Pike Creek

We are a young family considering moving to Delaware from MD in the next year or so. I saw that Pike Creek made the list of CNN's Best Places to live in 2007. However, every time I try and look for real estate there, none of the websites come up with any results. What surrounding areas should I be looking for?
Also if anyone could give me any input about the safest neighborhoods with the best schools anywhere in DE, I'd be very greatful.

Oh and we are looking to spend about 300K on a house.

$300 K may not buy you much in Pike Creek/Hockessin. Try looking right outside Pike Creek off of Limestone Road, Wilmington 19808.

The school district for that whole area is Red Clay. As far as I know, they still "bus" the kids to inner city Wilmington for 5 and 6 grade. Pike Creek has really nice schools for k-4 and high school.

You may also want to look off of McKennas Church Rd by Delcastle Recreational. The high school for that area is McKean. Very nice area.

Further down Polly Drummond (toward Newark) by Shue school is nice also.

Check out Moderator cut: real estate advertising for homes, they have a terrific map feature for searching. Pike Creek is actually an area made up partially of zips codes 19808 (Wilmington mailing address) and 19711 (Newark mailing address). If you search real estate on a map, it falls between Limestone Road & Polly Drummond Road. It's a very nice area, and in this market you can get a great house for 300K. Good luck!

What place on CNN's list did Pike Creek rank?

Pike Creek is a nice place but I think of it as rather small, just a place I pass through, I still think its in the process of growth, but a very residential place. Finding apartments there is nearly impossible unless you know someone or have a perfect credit score. I do not know much about houses there, craigslist?

Pike Creek can get a bit pricey as well as the surrounding areas, but lucky for you this is a great time to buy!
