My husband has a job opportunity in Denver and we plan on moving there. Only one problem that is holding us back(besides missing my family) is I am a teacher and we live on my salery too.

Where are good subburbs or rural areas to live near Denver?

I really have no idea where to even began. I haven't made a big move as an adult to another state.

Also, if anyone can give me advice about teaching careers there that would be great.

I can't help you define a location, at this point. You need to be more specific. What is important to you?

Where would this new job be? How much of a commute is acceptable? Rural?

Sorry, there are no rural areas within 30 minutes to Downtown.

There are plenty of suburbs and urban areas to explore.

Where can I go to get information on suburbs around there? I don't know anything about CO. except I have been to the airport and skiing at Winterpark, lol.

Golden is a nice location relatively close to the city but with foothill views. Housing is also affordable.

What are you looking for in a community? Most of Denver is suburban. Most of Denver is friendly and safe. 1/4 acre lot is considered large.

I would guess you may like Highlands, Berkeley or Sloans Lake to start the exploration.

Right now we live outside of OKC about 30 minutes and it's a quiet town with large yards, one stop light, subway, two gas stations, so on.. you get the picture.. not much to it. Anything like that?

When I say large yards I mean an acre or half acre.

Nope. Not comparable. Lot sizes are smaller all across the board and $/sq ft is higher. The few semirural neighborhoods in the Denver area that do have larger lots such as Foxfield are VERY expensive, like about $700k on up. If you move to Denver you'll have to accept having less space-- otherwise you're better off staying where you are.
