Quoted for truth.

On my commute home on C470 east from Wadsworth to I-25, I honestly feel bad for the people going westbound. I'm tooting along at 75 MPH, while the westbound traffic and every on-ramp is one giant parking lot.

This reminds me of the story of ABA player Marvin Barnes. His team's plane was scheduled to leave at 7:50 am local time, fly west over to a new time zone where it would land at 7:45 am local time. When he saw that the plane was scheduled to land before it left, he refused to get on telling the coach, "I ain't getting on no time machine."

Today's commute:

Today was sunny. Sun glare slowed the commute just before Lucent to Broadway, and from University to just past the Colorado Blvd. bridge.I left at 6:58 am and arrived at 7:35 am. It took me 8 minutes to travel through Highlands Ranch, but the big slowdown was on I-25 north of Orchard. It took me 12 minutes from Orchard and I-25 to work (twice the amount of time it normally takes).

In two weeks, this will be a non-issue for a while as we move to daylight savings. The entire commute will be in the dark. until May.

If you are truly in Ken Caryl (like Ken Caryl Parkway or Bowles off C470) and going to the Tech Center (as in I-25 at Arapahoe or Orchard), you're looking at 25 ish miles door to door. It is not possible to do in 30 minutes except on Sunday morning.

Figure an hour each way. We live ((essentially) near Lockheed Martin and my wife works in the Inverness area next to the golf course that's just east of Park Meadows. It takes her at least 45 minutes in a normal commute).

Some say it's a terrible commute. I agree if you are not used to traffic (as in you haven't lived in/around a major city). We lived outside Chicago until we were transferred here. This commute on C-470 is no big deal. It sucks as all stop and go commutes suck, but it's not worse than the Chicago suburbs was.

If you want a 30 minute commute, best to look a lot farther east like Broadway or University in Centennial. That should be 30 minutes or so but it'll be more surface streets and stop lights.

When I checked the mileage door to door it is about 18 miles from the house we decided to buy. He is just going to leave really early and try to get out of the office by 4:15 pm. The house was just too awesome and we love the area so we decided to go for it! He is used to a 45 minute commute or more here in Dallas so I think he is going to be okay.

I live at Wadsworth and Ken Caryl and work at Bellview and I25. I take Ken Caryl ( it turns into Mineral) to Holly to Bellview. Most days it's 20-25 minutes.

He's working in town this week and did a test run of the drive. It wasn't bad at all so we are very happy! He also said the scenery is sure a lot nicer than his drive here in North TX

I used to live at Chatfield & Wadsworth; ex hubby did that for a year then gave me an ultimatum to find him a new house within 10 miles to commute from.

My father in law does this commute daily. It takes him between an hour and 75 minutes.
