This morning, you were ahead of me in the drive through lane about 7:15. I pulled up to the window to pay for my coffee, and they told me you already paid for mine.

Thank you. I was feeling a little down (okay, a lot down) and that just really brightened my morning. It was a better pick-me-up than the coffee was.

Regards,
The lady behind you who ordered the skinny vanilla latte

A man in front of me at the Krispy Kreme in Thornton paid for my 1/2 dozen donuts yesterday. I was speechless! Loving the generosity of these Coloradans!

Good stuff! I believe the idea is to play it forward. In other words, when you get free coffee, you then offer to pay for the person behind you.

This happens to me every now and then.

The last two I remember,
1) At the Colfax/I-25 McDonalds, somebody paid for my food. It was like 2:30 in the morning!

2) Recently, at the Village Inn on I-70/Federal, the guy working there gave us free pie. We went in to simply use the bathroom (it was fairly late at night), and we had every intention of buying pie as thanks for letting us use their john, but the guy simply handed us the pie and said it was on him.

Happened to me a couple of months ago and I just paid it forward. Good to know there are people out there like that.

The movie, Pay It Forward, was pretty cool.

Actually, how do you do this? Since you don't know what the person behind you is going to order do you just stipulate a certain amount and pay that, or what? I'd love to do this but don't know how?

Ideally the person would have already moved past the ordering speaker thing which would indicate the order was placed. I'm sure that's what happened in this case.
