I'm sure I'll probably get barked at for creating this thread, but trust me I've done plenty of reading and have been lurking this forum for well over a month now in my recent new founded interest in moving to the Denver area someday.

Me and my fiance are interested in moving to the Denver area from Mississippi where we both have grown up. We are getting married in May 2013. I was wondering if there were any possible honeymoon locations located within 1-2 hours drive of Denver in the mountains. We would like to stay in the mountains but be able to take a day trip or two to the Denver area to really check it out and get a feel if we would really like to move there. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thank you all!

You're right.. It definitely is gorgeous after looking it up a little bit... In mid May would there still be any type of snow on the ground? Or is that a kind of hit or miss?

I second Estes Park. Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs and Winter Park are also popular tourist destinations. The options really are only limited by your budget, as many of the tourist areas are very expensive, although May is likely to be more affordable than February, for example.

PS Sorry I missed the 1-2 hour drive request in your initial post...most of my recommendations are a bit farther from Denver and not within 1-2 hours, although Breckenridge might meet your criteria for nearby.

Re: snow, maybe way up on Trail Ridge Rd in RMNP. Maybe a fairly rare/weak storm in May around Estes (we occasionally get snow in May down here in Denver, so I assume Estes can get them too), but I wouldn't necessarily count on it.

Hey, don't knock it til you try it.

The woman and I stayed in some place there once, looked lovely, like it hadn't been remodeled since the Nixon administration.
