My favorite place that is often overlooked is Tacos El Chorizo at East Colfax & Cherry. I love their pastor and barbeqoa. Plus they are super cheap!!! The only downside is my wife get hit on by a drunk middle-aged regular. But its worth it b/c there are so many places that serve the same mediocre junk.

And I agree with the sentiment regarding how whack it is to smother a burrito. Especially with subpar green chilli.

Tacos El Chorizo, thanks I'll try it out.

Oh by the way, finally got to try Patzquaro the other day for dinner, absolutely awesome carnitas! Thats all you really need to know if they're good or not....try the carnitas

Definitely equals the best mexican place I've had in Sacramento and whats great is the place is not fancy at all and is cheaper with slightly smaller portions (thats good!) so I'll definitely be back.

Thanks to all the recommended them.

In my opinion, smothered is the only way to eat a burrito! We call them "wet" back in Michigan......otherwise they are too dry.

What could possibly be wrong with cheese and sauce??

Well, if you want an authentic breakfast burrito with green chile, go to Swift's. It's a diner on Broadway, there is one on Santa Fe, too. They have the best breakfast burrito in Denver, I think. Their green chile is really good, too.

Well I just don't think they're very good

But that's just me... I'll take Tacos Y Salsas, Tacos Jalisco, Tacos De Mexico, or Viva Burrito over Chubby's any day.

Long time listener, first time caller here.

I googled burritos in Colorado and I came across this thread. I too am from Southern California and miss the hole in the wall places like Albertos, Robertos and Sombreros. It took awhile for me to get used to all the smothering going on here. Has anybody tried Tacos Rapidos on West Evans Avenue? It is pretty darn close to being like California.

Does anyone have any recommendations for those stationed trucks that serve food out of 'em? I think alot of times they just park in the same spot for a long time (months or years?) so they should be easy to track down. There's one with a great variety of burritos often parked on Kentucky off Colorado BEHIND Las Delicias (which has paltry food)....when it's there, it's really good. Also I often see one parked on 35th and Brighton, but haven't tried it.

Also, El Tepehuan on Broadway in Englewood is good across the board. Just down the street is a local pizza spot "Rico's"---also good for Italian.

El Chapultapec on 20th in LoDo is supposedly great also.

The Curtis Park Creamery has excellent tamales, and I'm sure anything else they have is worth the search.
