Perceived cultural identity...define a time. Its actually somewhat fluid and is not a rock solid perception that carries form generation to generation

For its first 100 years, it was mining. How many came to Denver in the mistaken belief you could pull gold out of any creek you waded into. Most left, but some stayed, some made millions.

After WW2 it was skiing. Correct or not, many in the nation think of Denver as a mountain town that is a short drive to internationally famous skiing. After all, isn't Aspen a bedroom community of Denver?

By the 1970s it was John Denver and a good ole' country boy, don't mess with mother nature outlook that led Denverites to kick the International Olympic Commitee in the teeth and become the only city in history that was granted an Olympics that subsequently withdrew their nomination.

Around the 1990 is become tech and beer.

Since 2012, its been weed.

Sure there are other cultural identities within those, but that is what I'd bet others see in Denver, outside of the Broncos, of course.

Default Denver's Culinary Identity

Does Denver have a Culinary Identity? What type of food is Denver known for? Is the Denver Omlette it? Is Denver's Culinary identity Beer? Bars? Microbrews? San Francisco has crab and Clam Chowder. Maine is Lobster? Los Angeles is fast food? Albuquerque is Green or Red Chili, Texas Steak or Tex Mex...etc. Philladelphia is the Philly Cheese Steak. Buffalo is Buffalo Wings? What do you think is Denver's Claim to fame food wise?

To some, including wife and, it's the dumbest legislation ever past. But, then again, we are in our late 60's and don't need "weed" (as this generation calls it) to live on! But, Medical pot is fine and we'd us that, if needed.
