So,

I think my wife and I have narrowed our 'places to retire' choices down to Los Alamos NM; Casper, WY; and Golden,CO.

Can anyone advise on pros and cons of living in Golden...especially the skiing{I'm an avid skier}?

144 threads on Golden (in thread title) available via search tool.

To select Golden, I'd think access to Denver would have to a major "pro" to you. If it isn't or it is very mixed, might be less hassle to take one of the others.

Actually I hear Hunting Park Philadelphia is really nice you don't even have to lock your doors.

No skiing in/near Golden but easy access to I-70 for skiing Winter Park, Summit County, Vail, etc.

What factors attracted you to Golden? What are your highest priorities in making the choice?

Some of the pros of Golden in my eyes are being close to Denver but fairly shielded from it by several mesas, the modest size, the abundance of parks / open space reserves nearby, the slight jump on getting to the mountains, the train, it already being largely what it will be, etc. If you were to pick a place near Denver, Golden is one of the better ones, imo.

YW. Loveland ski area is the closest timewise (~50 min.?). Eldora ski area near Nederland is the closest in distance, but takes a bit longer on 2 lane highways (still less than an hour).
