We are moving our family to Denver within the next year and currently live in Virginia/DC burbs. We regularly see CO cars with the traditional SKI COLORADO bumper stickers but the other day we saw a car with a SAIL COLORADO bumper sticker on it and we were shocked! We are big skiers and have enjoyed many years of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay but had come to accept the fact that sailing would not be something we could continue to do in Colorado.

Does anyone sail in Colorado? Do you have any resources into which lakes/res are good for sailing? I mean, I know there are a lot of little lakes and stuff but I mean something of a decent size that you can enjoy fairly long sails on, etc. Any insights into sailing/boating clubs? Do most people moor their boats at marinas or in storage? We no longer have our boat but just curious...

Why not? We got about a million lil reservoirs, chatty and cherry creek may be a bit crowded but there are a couple hidden gems outside of the general area. Heck there are even seveal cookie cutter communities with their own lil private lakes here, you might want to take a look at that. keyword truck/SUV and trailer.

I would imagine Dillon is a good one. Blue Mesa too.

Nothing really big.

Pueblo, Horsetooth, Blue Mesa reserviors, Grand Lake. Pueblo reservior is probably the largest and has 60 miles of shoreline.

Zebra mussels are a big problem in some of the lakes. Zebra mussels attach to hard surfaces and are having a harmful effect on the environment.

Navajo in SW Colorado and NM is good for sailing. It's a pretty big lake and not crowded.
