Only back home to visit for a very short time, but long enough to do another photo tour. This time I hit up Federal. This is one of the grittiest, most infamous, but also most colorful and interesting streets in Denver. This showcases a part of Denver that many in the suburbs never visit and even some may not know exists. This was my first time systematically exploring this street; in the past I had only seen little bits and stretches. When I come back I'm going to check this area out a little more. Unlike my Parker Rd photo tour before, this area is not my 'hood-- I felt like I was exploring a whole different city. So here goes:

The tour begins: Hampden/285 to the Federal exit

Right now is the chile harvest season, and I noticed half a dozen of these on Federal. Funny, I just got back from New Mexico! It makes me happy to know that in at least part of Denver people appreciate New Mexico chile!

Not exactly your King Soopers:

Here's our first glimpse of the Vietnamese community:

Just as abruptly as it started, the Vietnamese influence shifts towards Mexican and Latin American oriented businesses.

Old School:

If you know where to peek, Federal has a great view of downtown:

Go Broncos!!!!!!

I've eaten at Jack n Grill before, it was very good. I wish there was more New Mexican style restaurants in Denver where this came from.

???

Now I make a detour to 38th Ave

Beautiful building!

Back to Federal. Cool conversion of an old theater:

A view of more suburban pastures to the north:

End of tour.

I went to that theatre when I was in 3rd grade and saw Shanondoah/sp?
I spent a LOT of time on Federal. I went to Alcott Elementary (no longer there on Tennyson)...Skinner Junior High and, North High School.
Thanks for the tour!! Brings back a ton of memories.

Thanks for the post but curious if you were looking mostly for restaurants or languages other then English? There are so many historical gems along Federal like Loretto Heights, the Carnegie Library, Saint Elizabeth's, Saint Dominics, North High School, Rocky Mountain Lake and Park, spectacular victorian homes when you get to about 20th and up, the view from Barnum Park, etc. I do see you added the stadium and a shot of downtown. Federal is a very long street and the north end is much more appealing then the south end, and it can seem almost like night and day. If you don't mind, I could add some photos to your tour to explain my comments? Thanks for the pictures and the tour!

I love Federal. Its the best place in Denver to get authentic mexican food and good Pho noodles. Adds a lot of character to the city.

Feel free, go ahead! If there's a picture I took that you want to grab the URL and repost, go ahead. By no means did I intend my photo tour to be an all comprehensive guide; it was just a brief snapshot of what I found interesting at the time, and I wanted to show a bunch of pictures of the foreign language signs and whatnot so I'd remind myself that Denver has plenty of international flavor. Like I said, I am not very familiar with the west side of town at all, so this was really just the quick impressions of a southeast-sider exploring the "west side" for one of the first times.
