Have you ever thought about Seattle? the cost of living is pretty high there, too I imagine.
I can speak from experience that I have an easier time being black and dating interracially in Denver than I did in most parts of CA, just my own personal experience. I hope you experience the same in Denver if you decide to move there!
I thought about Seattle very briefly. The cost of living is almost as high there as it is in parts of the Bay Area and you don't get the good weather to go along with it. I just couldn't take all of those gray rainy days. I like the sun! We also want to live in a "city" location and not the suburbs, which makes our quest that much more difficult.

Unfortunately, with the current state of the economy, it doesn't look like we'll be moving anywhere anytime soon (i.e. the job market is pretty much dead, unless you are in healthcare, which I am not).

Thanks for your insight!

"Peixe" - I understand. Luckily, I am in healthcare, so I hope not to have too hard a time finding something in Denver when I get there permanently in the next few months. Good luck with everything!
