3OH!3, the Fray, Flobots, Rose Hill Drive...pretty much 'mainstream' material coming from Boulder and Denver on the larger scale.

Reggae and jam bands seem to be on the rise, and in Longmont we have 'screamo' and metal bands going on.

Denver has quite a large scene, but you have to work to find it. You could pick up a Westword, and start from there. Places I'm found that are cool are 3 Kings, Sputnik, Larimer Lounge, Old Curtis St., Benders, and many more. The S. Broadway strip that ends with Skylark is a good place to start. Get into a record store like Wax Trax, and ask the people working there. Independent has some cheap used vinyl, and a big(for Colorado) hip hop selection.
Radio in Colorado sucks, Indie 101.5 is gone. Its right wingnut radio now. There is nothing but top 40, country, classic rock, or cheddar music. You will find a great scene here, but it won't b easy. Its like moving to any other city where you don't know many people. It takes time.

Default the music scene in Denver

How is the music scene in Denver? Are there any good local music venues that feature some good local bands? Are there even any good recognizable local bands there?
