1st Question: No.

Try Denver.

A no cost (free) way of getting a Colorado phone number is through Google voice. It works very well and can forward to your cell phone. Just throwing the idea out there.

The reall issue is what do you do when they want you to come in for an interview? You can potentially jump on a plane at a moments notice and be in Denver the day after they call you. It could work if you're willing to do that. If you know someone that lives out here you could possibly ask their permission to use their address on applications.

Or you can take the honest approach and say that you're willing to move here upon a job offer. If you are well qualified, it shouldn't be an issue. But, you'll probably have to be ready to pack up and move within 2-4 weeks. You won't have the luxury of putting your move off until you might be ready.

As someone who is preparing to do just this I can't tell you how I have handled it (yet), but I will tell you my line of thinking:

I have not, nor will I claim that I am already in Colorado, but having a local number removes one more potential issue that could cause me to be overlooked early in the process.

I think it is safe to assume that by the time I get a call the field typically has been narrowed down to 5-15 applicants and they are less likely to dismiss me immediately; I now have a chance to talk to them; make an impression and explain that I can get out there for an interview if needed.

As for any perceived deception, I am simply planning for my impending move and starting to establish myself in the state.

Also, FWIW, I use Google Voice which is free.
