The Warrendale reference was in response to illmatic's previous post implying that Warrendale was a safe enough neighborhood to let kids run around in. The other parts of the post were in response to your question about whether I've ever lived in the city.

Warrendale is roughly bounded by city limits to the west, west of Rouge Park, Joy to the north, Southfied or Greenfield to the east and city limits to the south.

Default Boston-Edison is fine!

As a Boston-Edison resident, I can assure you that the neighborhood is safe. I read the previous posts on this topic with amusement. I have walked my dog all over Boston-Edison, at all hours of the day and night, and never had a single problem. I even walked out on Woodward with my dog, where your friends wouldn't stop for a red light. Please! There may be people walking around at times on Woodward, but they are just people without cars. This is not to say that they are all on the up and up, but they aren't going to bother. In 7 years of driving down Woodward to get to B-E, I have NEVER had anybody approach my car nor felt unsafe in any way. Admittedly, the schools are not good, but they are trying to consolidate and improve. If you don't have school-age children, or can afford private school, Boston-Edison is a great place to be. The neighbors are great and there is a definite sense of community.

Default Urban Historic Neighborhood Living

I have lived in IV for seven years. To live happily and successfully in an urban historic neighborhood, it takes a real dedication to your community, a real desire to live in DETROIT, and a steely resolve to tackle problems as a COMMUNITY. Yes, IV has property crime, the occasional armed robbery and break ins (mostly of unoccupied homes.) We also have great police presence, a terrific private security patrol and one of the most active, dedicated, well funded neighborhood associations in the UNIVERSE. Problems are addressed AS SOON AS THEY OCCUR. We have also reached out to our surrounding neighbors to try to work together to solve our problems. Not that it should matter, but IV is about 60% WHITE and 40% black. This is a wonderful example of a truly diverse community that works TOGETHER. I don't recommend that anyone move here just because they want to buy a big house on the cheap. That just leads to flipping houses and fleeing, which destabilizes our historic neighborhoods. If you just want a great house and no headaches, pony up and buy a house in the Pointes.
