Meat does not harm the body! It actually benefits it. It helps with keeping you full, weight loss, and maintaining your immune and nervous system. Not saying you should eat all meat and especially not processed meats like cold cuts that are most likely going to have fillers and additives like sodium nitrates unless you pick a brand that doesn't have any of that, but have also some vegetables and a little fruit in your diet. Those all benefit the body and that is what low carb diets are really about. Eating carbs in excess (mostly from grains and sugar) are what feed cancer, fat cells, and can contribute to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other health issues all because of inflammation it causes. Even European doctors say "sugar feeds cancer" and if you look at countries like France and Switzerland, their heart disease rate is very low and yet they traditionally eat cheese, cream, butter, and high fat meals, but not as much junk food. Also many old tribes and cavemen during the hunting days would live off of things like whale blubber or any wild animal they could find.

LMFAO! Our bodies are mostly intended to eat plants. Our digestive tracts are long, like herbivores. Our teeth are almost entirely flat, like herbivores. We can't actually catch and eat meat without using tools or weapons. All other carnivores or omnivores eat their meat raw and they eat the entire animal...not just the juicy muscles after they have been cooked over high heat to purge the toxins. If modern stores didn't exist hardly anyone would be an omnivore.

Please read The China Study before sprouting off that meat has any benefits at all. It's a high protein piece of cardboard that no human needs. Further, its animal protein which according to The China Study is carcinogenic. Red meat has already been linked to prostate cancer and other cancers. Dairy is linked to breast, ovarian, prostate, and other cancers. Animal protein is not good for you, it almost certainly is what pulls the trigger on most cases of heart disease & cancer.

You get the perfect amount of protein needed for humans from all other sources in the correct ratios by simply eating vegetables, fruits, grains, etc... Incomplete proteins are a total myth. I have been vegan for over a year and I exercise every other day. I have never had more energy in my entire life and my body is in excellent health at 6 feet tall and 135 lbs. When I ate animal products I felt lethargic, bloated, tired, angry, depressed, and just down right miserable ( I was also working out while eating animal products and I was closer to 165 lbs.).

How I look and feel are a testament to how powerful healthy vegan eating is when coupled with moderate exercise. I highly encourage anyone who doubts this to try it for several months instead of reading animal product propaganda from the USDA or listening to doctors who have their heads up their butt(most of whom take around 4 credits of nutrition in college).

Okay ID since you seem to know everything there is to know about what to eat tell why don't you tell us your version of the perfect diet. Do not give links to other experts, just tell us what the ideal is. Also would you mind giving us your credentials in nutrition?

That's what she said! :P
If anything, PETA should stand for "People eating tasty animals"

Please give us the links of peer reviewed data on this claim other than The China Study. T. Colin Campbell's book The China Study is not the end all be all and has been soundly criticized by experts as much as it has been praised. It is hardly definitive.
I am sure it is an interesting read and some good stuff can be gleaned from it, but that can be said for a lot of ideas on nutrition some that are even completely the opposite of eachother.

Those studies prove nothing! Because most of the foods given to rats or people always have added fillers or carbohydrates. Besides, vegetarians and vegans are almost never healthy eaters because they live off of bread, potato chips, and just basically all fillers. They believe that because it isn't meat, that is what to live off. The low carb studies that were conducted correctly actually have proven fast weight loss with health improved. Cholesterol went down, nagging issues went away, depression went away, and so forth, because carbohydrates are not the best friend.

Here's a fascinating data analysis of the China Study.
The China Study: Fact or Fallacy? « Raw Food SOS

She puts her disclaimer and transparency statements right up front, and offers links to the peer-reviewed studies she has published, for those who'd rather not take the word of a blog page.

According to a modern BMI scale I am a 18.3. 18.5 is normal weight so I am just barely underweight. What scale are you using to determine an appropriate height/weight ratio? If you're just going by what you're viewing odds are you're surrounded by obese people and this would explain your opinion.

So you haven't read the book but then you jump on the critic train and demand that I give you links supporting those same views? How about reading the book and disputing that data for starters. Its also common knowledge now that red meat/dairy are linked to cancer and a simple Google search will open a plethora of things for your viewing pleasure.

You just lost any credibility you might have had. I don't live off of coke & french fries and neither do any other vegans I know. This shows you hang out in meat head circles where propaganda and myth override common sense & statistics. You also obviously have not read the book and probably aren't capable of understanding the studies anyways.

Ah yes, the made up person by the meat industry to dispute all the vegetarian stuff of the world. This stuff always cracks me up. Good find, good find! What kind of cheese are you eating right now?
