Gov your list is good but it is specific to what you like. And very regimented. There are a lot more options than what you listed. And different ways to go about it.
It really just a matter of eating whole fresh foods, cut out the junk food and pre packaged crap. Keep sugar to a minimum, and go easy on the saturated fats. Drink lots of water. Burn more than you eat.
I eat junk food, fast food, snack on lots of candies and potato chips... yet I manaqe to stay the same weight and when I workout I lose weight. I enjoy life a lot eating all the junk food I want, - in moderation.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't gain weight, but you should still watch out for diabetes when you get older from eating all the sweets.
that did not work for me then i lost 30 lbs.
kaiser 24 hour fast program. 1 modest meal a day and 3 cans of slim fast.
steady loss of 1 to 3 lbs a week.

I was getting type 2 diabetic symptoms when I was 193 to 205 lbs. Now I'll be 44 in Jan and I'm 150.2 lbs. So no way will I get diabetic unless I hit around 193 lbs again. Not gonna happen.
It would be easier to get most people to lose a little bit of weight if we focused on helping them to change just ONE HABIT, instead of giving them a long list of things to change in their diet.
For instance, soda and sugar drink consumption in the US is at an all-time high, more than half of all Americans drink these unhealthy and fattening sodas every day. Many think they are being healthier if they drink sugar-free or diet soda. They have been misled by the FDA and the soda industry.
Soda addicts (most of whom are overweight or obese) could easily shave 10-50 pounds off if they replaced the sugary drinks with water or even flavored water seltzers. They need to learn to wean themselves off the addiction (it really IS an addiction, people have suffered withdrawal symptoms when they tried to kick the soda habit) by cutting down the amount of soda they drink a day or week, or by going cold turkey and replacing the sugar drinks with water or seltzer water.
More people would be happier, healthier, and thinner if they could break just ONE bad eating habit --- the soda habit. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Once they start seeing positive results they can move on to the next bad eating habit to break, whatever it may be.

You better be checking your A1C scores...they just lowered the guidelines, so while you're 'think' you're ok..according to the ADA and your Dr you might not be.
