Lassie does not have anything on your dog. We have a cat now, but I have always loved dogs. They are just naturally protective.

Great stories. Thanks for sharing them. And people wonder why we refer to our animals as part of our families.

Thanks to all who responded.

It has been an interesting couple of weeks with the "wiener" dog - we (I) had problems with him NOT wanting to eat - and a couple of times when I went to take him off the bed so he could eat, he actually growled at me! "Leave me be Dad" - the message was clear.

Well, my wife is starting to get around some, with a walker and wheelchair. But, Sammy is right there, following her every move. This past Saturday, he did something he never had done before though. My wife was reading a book and as she often does, she had a highlighter in her hand. Well, she dropped the highlighter on the floor - Sammy, comes to attention - stares over the edge of the bed, sees the highlighter, jumps OFF the bed - gets the highligher in his mouth (just like his bones), jumps ON the bed, and takes the highlighter back to Mom -

He's been great!
