Sub Forums are only to have two stickies, and I feel that we really could use a Chat thread.
How do you feel about adding it to the Pet Picture Gallery thread?

People already "chat" by making comments on the pictures so I think its a great idea.

I don't understand how it would work. Do we have a chat feature?

No, it's not IM or anything, although I have seen that on other boards.

Some of the other subforums have threads dedicated to just chatting about food, relationships, whatever the sub forum topic is.

A place to post stuff that is not new thread worthy.... say your dog does something cute that you want to share, or ask a quick question. Just random dog stuff.

Mikala, it doesn't sound good to me, but point me in the direction of somewhere that I can see clearly what you are thinking of.

I kind of understand what you mean. I have seen some of those types of threads on this forum, and it is kind of nice to able to talk about anything without fear of "going off topic". At the same time, however, those threads usually drag on endlessly, and grow to ridiculous sizes - I really wouldn't want them in the photo thread. It could get to the point where one is wading through 30 pages of chit chat just to find the next photo - and then the photo part of the thread would eventually die.

Can't you just have a "chat thread" that is not a sticky? If people are interested enough in it, it will stay on the top on its own.

Other C-D forums have Chat threads at the top of the forum. For example, the below link is the Chat thread for the Retirement forum:
Chat Thread

And here's the Chat thread for the Non-Romantic Relationships forum:
Friendly chat about anything thread

I think a Chat thread for the Dogs forum is a great idea. If people dont like it, they dont have to participate in it. They dont even have to click on it.
