Rosie. I found her loose in the neighborhood as a 6 mo old puppy.

The name came from two things: I was picking plums in my tree in backyard, where I was keeping her while looking for her owner. I was singing the song from Bye Bye, Birdie, called Everything is Rosie. (Everything is Rosie, since I found my Rosie. ...since I found my Rosie....how could I be blue? etc.) She came to me at the tree and started playing and dancing around my legs. Then I noticed that her skin was pinkish (she's mainly white short haired). So I named her Rosie. (I didn't find her owner, so I guess she was dumped or they didn't want her back.)

We named our very first dog, an Irish terrier as Russell, after my favorite coworker. When I told the dude we named our dog after him he was proud and delighted. I loved them both, the man and the dog. Dear Lord, how much I miss them. They had the same fun loving, easy going character.

# 2, Monty, the German pinscher, named by the breeder, we kept the name.
# 3, Manchester terrier, Willie. Meet people walking, what's his name? "it's Willie, like Willie Nelson." Easy name.
# 4 Tobi the Airedale.

In case you don't know, you can rename a dog anything you desire, and the dog will respond in a matter of days to it. Dogs don't care about birth certificates like the IRS. Names like Sam or John won't be so easy to recognize by your dog as Sammy or Johnny when you are screaming as loud as you can "Sammy, sit, sit, sit now ! That truck could kill you !!!!!!

We've used names of favorite actors as well as names of favorite characters on TV shows.

Looked up the top names for a male bichon. Picked the name that made the most sense for my puppy. Very happy with the name I chose

My dogs names are Yeti, Aubrey, Mr Darcy, and Lexi. The ending sounds similar, three of the dogs are seniors, but I chose to keep the same style of name with new generation Yeti.

We also had an English Mastiff that ended up being named Jake. I wanted to name him T-Bone........ because I knew I'd never be able to afford another T-Bone for myself after paying the food bill for him. Wife over-ruled the name T-Bone.

Gabriel. He's actually my second Gabriel. The first was a rescue puppy and the rescue let me choose his name. His breeder reached out to the rescue because he was ill and she wasn't sure if he needed to be euthanized (at 6.5 weeks) and she didn't have the heart to do it. I so wanted this little boy to thrive so I chose Gabriel - God is My Strength.
