Steve - kitty - Steve came home with the name Fuzzball. We gave him the most generic, ridiculous man name we could think of so that peeps wouldn't associate him with terrible television programs. Haha (ACTUALLY, when we got him, my hubby and I were discussing names over the phone and he said, "I really like people names, like Frank or something." And then at the EXACT SAME TIME we both said, "or Steve!" So Steve it is.)
haha that's great. i really like non-cute human names for pets.
BUT - hawaii 5-0! not that that's a terrible show.
Our new Aussie/ Mountain Cur mix is named Sydney (Sid for short). And obviously we chose the name because we wanted something relating to Australia for his breed. The name fits him perfectly though.
howie...when i went to pick him up, i had every intention of naming him eddie after the dog from frasier...because i love frasier...but when i got him, it just didnt stick. howie popped in my head and i dont know where it came from...but it just seemed to fit. its a softer name, cute. its the perfect name for him.
my cats...
wilbur is my first cat that was all mine...ive had him since i was 15...and im turning 28 this year lol...which is irrelevant, but whatever. we named him after the pig from charlottes web. hes a fat cat, always was...when he was a kitten...his little belly almost touched the ground when he walked...now when he lays on my stomach...i can barely breathe lol. hes so fat, he lives to eat...just ask him. lol.
marlo...marlo appeared on my doorstep and refused to go away. after about two weeks i finally took pity on him and started feeding him. i pay his vet bills and i feed him but he is strictly outdoors. when he showed up he didnt have balls, and im not good at figuring it out myself...so i figured he was a girl and i named him maggie after my favorite rod stewart song lol...well, he got hurt and we had to take him to the vet and found out he was a neutered boy...i couldnt think of anything...my sister suggested magnus but that sounded like a bad pornstar name lol...one day when i pulled up in front of the house marlo just popped in my head. it worked...it was a few months before i figured out it was a guy at works name...i didnt actually know his name, but i mustve read it on his nametag before or something because him and my cat are the only marlo's i know.
and the third. hes still kinda unnamed. i tried to take him to the pound, but the two no-kill shelters locally dont accept cats. a la marlo, he just showed up and wouldnt leave. i tried to chase him away but he was persistant and marlo was starting to starve, so i didnt have much of a choice. the name ive called him is a-hole. and moochie lol. a vet tech friend came over the day and gave all the animals their yearly shots including him...he hasnt spoken to me in 3 days lol.
Most of my pets either have names when I get them or my kids, now grandkids would name them. My alpha dog, I named Tahlulla, Champ came with the house and was already named. The other 2 dogs are technically my sons, Skunk, a black and white border collie and Emma, his pit. The cats, wally and willow, named by the gkids, the other cat I named pip, but everyone calls her greasy because she is always dirty looking.
I got to name one horse (Tonka) and all the goats, Dino, Daharma, Brooklyn, Raven (because she is solid black), Duke (after my dad) and Roo.
bailey's name i thought of when driving to the shelter to find my dog.... i liked the way it would flow ..... bailey d. brewer .... bailey dog brewer
dave's name was spike in the shelter .... he is SO SO SO not a spike.... he was named in honor of a dearly departed black lab that belonged to my house mate....
charlie .... years ago, my mom had a wonderful gentleman friend named Charlie.... he often said that when he died, he wanted to come back as one of my cats..... he passed easter weekend of 1992..... and in his honor, i will ALWAYS have a pet named charlie
max ..... just seemed to suit him when i brought him home.....
Scarlett is our Cocker Spaniel. We have English cockers so we stuck with names from Robin Hood. Our first Cocker was Locksley (Like Robin of Locksley) and this one is name after Robin's brother, Will Scarlett (even though she is a girl!)
Our other dog is named Anubis, because he looks exactly like the statue of Anubis when he lays down.
Our cats were named Cleopatra and Nephertiti, after the Egyptian queens.
Shep is our lab-shepherd mix. He came with that name from the shelter. His previous family named him that. I liked it so I kept it.
Georgia is our beagle. My dh is from Georgia and I liked the name.
What is/are your pet'(s)' names?
How did you choose it/them?
His name is Mr Sumo and how did we choose it? Well he was a rescue dog, found wandering a busy street one Sunday morning. A friend picked him up, couldn't keep him and the next thing I knew the little guy was living with us. He is a Shih Tzu and weighs about 12 lbs. He entered our home where we had a Great Dane and an English Springer. We decided he needed a tough name to survive in our house.
My Jack russell mix is named "Fargo" because he's little and funny-looking.
