I have used PayPal for years, starting way back when I played on eBay.
PayPal owns Venmo and I never felt the need for it. I've been a little suspicious of it honestly. What does it have that PayPal doesn't have? Why was it needed?
ANYWAY I've got a lot going on and people want to be paid via Venmo so I got it.
I've paid horse board & electrician, no problem.
Yesterday it wouldn't work for my painter. I had my bank account loaded. I called my bank and Venmo. No problem noted, although the customer service people can only see so much. I added my debit card, painter sent request and it went through.
TODAY horse board won't go through. I reloaded my debit card, I called Venmo. They told me just wait and try later. I've been trying all day.
I saw that my account had to be validated so I did that, verified by Venmo CS.
Anyone have a similar experience? Any clue how to correct this?

Never used any of those pay apps other than PayPal long ago. I get a trashy vibe when someone says Venmo me or cash app me.

Never use Paypal or Venmo to get paid for your work. If somebody uses a credit card and send you the money using either they can easily call their CC company and say it was a fraudulent charge and venmo will immediately freeze your account. Then once the CC company starts an investigation and determined that the payment was not authorized. They will freeze your account for 180 days and refund the money. You will have no say and can't do squat.

I sold a wheel and tire to somebody from Facebook who paid me $600 via venmo. Then the person complained they didn't authorize the payment and venmo froze the money and gave it back to the sender. The person sent me money without even listing what it was for and no tracking. Just direct. I was robbed of my wheel and tire and Venmo charged me a service fee to collect.

My cat sitter prefers to be paid with Venmo. Not my favorite thing, but at least American Express lets me do a no fee, no interest cash advance from a linked AmEx card to load my Venmo account rather than having to link a bank account to the Venmo app.

You should know better to protect yourself.
Paypal /Ebay managed payment,Etsy would screen the buyer and his credit card, expect you to ship wiith tracking.
Paypal has UA(UNAUTHORISED transaction protection for seller),you need to go to its site to learn more,if I recall,as long as you prove you have shipped the item, not necessarily delivered to buyer given address, you are protected by Paypal UA policy.
Let Paypal deal with her cc issuer, there are ways to prove it is an authorised transaction if she is lying.

I dont use Venmo, but I read once a woman used VENMO to send $3k to an INDIAN vendor ,as soon as she sent payment, she realised it was fraud so she contacted her bank to stop payment, while Vendo has already paid her Indian vendor and now it cant collect from her bank account.
So Venmo is taking her to court, dunno what the outcome is.

I use Venmo to send Birthday money to the kids and grandkids. Better than waiting on them to cash the check. I also use it at a fresh vegetable farm stand I go to. Paypal for ebay stuff.

If you are doing person to person payments there is no reason to use PayPal/Venmo over Zelle. Zero. Zelle will facilitate the transfers between banks in real time at no cost and it’s available immediately. PayPal/Venmo/cash app etc are third party stops for your money
