I'm a big fan of Barriga's. Puerto Vallarta on the westside has some good food too. I recently tried little diner in canutillo and they have some awesome gorditas! I also really like the flautas at severo's in la mesa on the way to old mesilla. Not really in el paso, but on the periphery.

Thumbs up Your Favorite El Paso Mexican Food Restaurant

I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned the obvious "best" in El Paso: Carnitas Queretero at 6516 N Mesa. All of their skillet dinners are fabulous - carnitas, mole, chiles rellenos, adobada, fajitas, barbacoa, etc. And if you're up early for breakfast, their posole is the best in town. And, as a bonus, the red salsa they serve with the free bowl of chips is the best you'll find anywhere.

Get there early on weekends. It fills up fast!
