Actually I have been to Laredo and McAllen within the last few months. I really felt like I was in El Paso. The people were nice and friendly. The food was really good too. But I think you will find yourself in the same situation in a couple of years. The border is really laid back and the lifestyle is slow.

Dont even think about moving to the Rio Grande Valley. IMHO it's a lot worse than El Paso.
