if you had to choose between JUST these 2 candidates for the republican nomination, which one would you pick?
i keep hearing that the conservatives want perry, but that isn't what i am seeing locally, since perry has been pretty much pro illegal immigration and was a NAFTA supporter.
romney has romneycare going against him.
they both have their negatives for the republican party, but either might be capable of beating a president presiding over a poor economic picture.
(although i am still ALL in for ron paul at this point!)
Ron Paul, but if I have to choose between two evils then I'd pick Perry
No way I'd ever pick Obama because unemployment and the recession would be much worse under Obama than it would be under Romney or Perry. Anyone who believes it wouldn't be is delusional and doesn't understand economics.
I'd never vote for either. If Paul was not on the ballot, I'd likely vote for whoever the libertarian party candidate was unless there was another compelling candidate...but definitely not Romney or Perry...not Obama or Clinton either.
He lost 1 presidental election, and won 1 Gubertorial election, the only one he ran for.
Also lost his senate attempt in 1994, did not run for a second term as governor in 2006 because it was clear by the polls he could not win, and most recently "lost" the Iowa straw poll to a write-in candidate who never even went to the state. Not to mention the many '08 individual primaries lost, on the way to losing the whole thing. This despite spending big amounts of his personal fortune on some of these attempts.
