You would be surprised at how people suddenly find God when political future is at stake. Reagan did. Perry's criticism of equal weight to Israeli and Palestinian arguments wouldn't work in 95% of the world. But here in the USA, right here, right now, it works. AIPAC-types have too much power. If Israel suddenly declared the sun revolved around the Earth, Perry would agree, just because Israel said so. And he would win office.

I'm willing to bet the majority of the world's Christians are liberal/moderate. We just have the largest population of fundamentalists and evangelicals in this country, so we get a very negative and extremist view of Christianity here.

I guess we can look at that two different ways. We have such an extreme anti-Christian liberal population it gives a very negative view of all liberals.
