On Friday afternoon, Paul Ryan addressed the AARP’s National Annual Conference in New Orleans. The GOP vice presidential candidate attacked Obamacare for taking $716 billion out of Medicare — the very same cuts he included in his budget — and made the case for transforming seniors’ health care from a guaranteed benefit into a premium support “voucher” program.
The address didn’t go over well. One man called Ryan a “liar” and the audience repeatedly booed his critique of President Obama and health reform.Source
AARP is NOT sympathetic to the GOP ticket at all. The guy must have known that going in.
Take a look at what Ryan wanted to do to the Medicare system:
Quote:
Under Ryan’s original plan, Medicare would have changed from a program that pays doctors and hospitals fees for particular services to one in which beneficiaries would be paid an amount by the government that they could use toward private insurance premiums. This would have affected people who today are under 55 only. The private plans would comply with standards set by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, which administers the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
What makes this so undesirable is that insurance companies jack up your premiums when you hit 50 - IF you can get insured at all. If you are getting private insurance, you are stuck until you finally reach the age where Medicare kicks in. The AARP does not just have retired people as members, anyone over 50 is eligible. AARP is representing their members, as well they should be. Ryna went in to speak to an organization whose members he is trying to screw so what did he expect, a hero's welcome?
Anyone else think that Ryan is kicking himself for accepting the VP slot? I think YES! This will stay with him for a long time to come. He'll no doubt be reincarnated as a lobbyist, but politically, he's tarnished.
Duh...AARP is synonymous with Obama and Obamacare. Is this news? At least Ryan had the fortitude to show up, knowing it would be a hostile crowd to some extent. Obama can't even address the nation about this uprising in the Middle East, because he either doesn't give a crap or he is lost about what to do about it.

No, actually he underestimates the mindfullness of seniors and attempts to trick them into accepting his lies. I'm surprised he didn't trot his elderly mom out to hold his hand while he sells his snake oil.

Try to stay with the thread topic. I know it's difficult but the ole switch to the other guy/different topic, is so transparent when you have a weak argument for your failed candidate.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that when it comes to the future of Medicare, 47% of Likely U.S. Voters are scared more of the health care law than of Ryan’s proposal. Forty-one percent (41%) are more scared of what Ryan has proposed. 47% Fear Health Care Law More Than Ryan
AARP is one of the biggest benefactors in Obamacare.
