At this point it is clear that Independents are standing up in force. I think that despite all the f*****y from both Parties, we just may see a Trump/Sanders contest. Though I prefer Sanders and believe his ideas are the way this nation needs to develop for the future, I'd actually be fine with Trump if he follows through on shutting down China and brings back some jobs. If it came down to Trump vs establishment Democrat I'd even vote for him. I do believe that if the parties push a Bush/Clinton on us that the backlash sentiment will be so strong a Trump or Sanders or Carson might actually win a 3 way race. And if Walker were to somehow win, the end of the world nuclear conflict would be within 3 years. I'd vote for a sewer rat against that insane weasel.

In fact, why don't you try it and look for examples of socialism as applied to modern concepts of governance? Oh, yeah, it's easier to shout Nazi! and Chavez! and look at Venezuela! and look at Greece! ( But ignore Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and a dozen others)
An ideology in and of itself does not lead to failure.
Success or failure is based upon the abilities of those implementing and administering said system.
Just because you fear and loathe the very concept, does not make it unacceptable to all others.
The fact that you are unable or unwilling to think independently of the bias you have been trained into does not universally apply.
Hahaha...another young idealog. That's Cute. First of all, and this could and should be the end of the discussion. There is one thing that separates our Country from all of those others... Its called the Constitution. It does not allow for our Country to be a Socialist Nation.
Now if it did and for sake of argument we would agree that Socialism is working in all those Countries you mentioned. We are a nation of 322 million people, Sweden has 9. Its akin to saying hey we run our little mom and pop business with 9 employees like this and it works great so it should work great for your large corporation with 322 employees. Its just silly.

Most importantly Socialism is bad because it robs human beings of Freedom and Liberty in exchange for the false promise of a comfortable life of mediocrity.

Biden is going to be the nominee and Sanders can go back to the land of Ben & Jerrys and continue to rail about the very system that has given him the lifestyle that he has.

I was surprised that none of the Republicans mentioned him at the debate...

Also Warren would be 67 on inauguration day, and Biden would be 74.
I think there might be something in Warren's background that she doesn't want out in the open because this would be the time for her to run if she was ever going to do it.

Biden will win the old lady vote. Old ladies love him...which is not necessarily a bad thing for him since old people are more reliable voters. The question is - Where are those voters now? Who are they supporting?

Among the establishment candidates, how about Kasich/Rubio vs Biden/Webb? Nice and moderate smack down the middle, a gentlemanly campaign with relatively little personality/dynasty controversy, and they may even, miraculously, focus on the substantive issues facing the country, possibly the right tools for driving a policy wedge through wingnuts on both sides.

Hell, I might even vote for Biden if he pledges not to appoint a Clinton to any cabinet post or other major position.

Yes, he may appear a bit goofy at times, but how can anyone dislike him?

One problem with Biden, however, if he lasts only one term, due to age or whatever, that could still set up Jeb Bush for 2020.

What is it about Biden that isn't more of the same as what we have? To me, he has been pretty much invisible for 8 years.

Biden has been pretty useless as VP but another poster earlier in the thread said that we should elect him simply because of his personal tragedies.

Yeah Webb's position says a lot about where the Democrat party is right now. Biden will be the nominee.

I'm not convinced that if Biden does run, he will come out the nominee.

1. He is an old, white, male. That wouldn't jive well with the DNC's image.

2. The Clintons still have a lot of pull in the party (which is why the Obamas and the Clintons aren't on the friendliest of terms).
