HIs parents were not immigrants.

His Grandfather (Father's Father) was a Naturalized US Citizen.

Again;

Trump Parents and Grandparents
• Donald Trump is the grandson of immigrants.

His paternal grandfather, Frederick Trump (Drumpf), came from Germany in 1885 and became a citizen in 1892. He returned to Germany for a bride, Elisabeth Christ, in 1902 and sired three children.

• Frederick’s son, Fred Christ Trump, married Mary Anne MacLeod in 1936 and had five children, of which Donald was the second youngest. Fred died in 1999 and Mary died in 2000.

Trump encourages linguistic unity in American politics. The NYT calls this "divisive".

I call it the reality of the 21st Century United States. Also, we seem to forget that Spanish speaking people were here long before the first British settlers showed up at Jamestown. Do you think St. Augustine, San Antonio, Los Angeles, and San Juan were settled by us Gringos?

Opposing illegal immigration is one thing but what reason do we have to oppose Spanish other than bigotry, ignorance, and nativism? Why not replace English Only with English+?

And why not? Shouldn't they at least have a grasp of it and use it as their primary language when ever they can? I don't care what language they speak at home. Why come here if you don't want to be a complete part of our society?

Because that's the way the campaign planned it out.

Bush lives in Miami not much English spoken in Miami anymore. Fact is bushes wife doesn't speak English. That's why Jeb speaks Spanish. Strange to have a First Lady who cant communicate with guests unless a translator is present. Cubans love republicans despite the fact that jimmy carter (a Democrat) let the Cubans go to Cuba to get their relatives with their private boats.

There are plenty of immigrants who have a grasp of the English language, but are still more comfortable speaking and communicating at times in their mother tongue.

And how many years has Bushs' wife been in the U.S.? Odd that she doesn't know how to speak English. Jeb made an effort to learn her native language but not the other way around even though they are both living in an English speaking country?

Columbia Bush has lived in the U.S. A long time. She always stays in the background. She is Mexican. Their daughter was arrested in 2002 for fraudulent prescription at a pharmacy to obtain xanax. She went to rehab in 2003 and the judge dismissed the charges.

I call it bad timing. At a time that he is suspected of having dual loyalties, speaking Spanish is not very smart. Besides, Rush said something interesting. Exactly how many conservatives are in the Hispanic community (if we can believe what we are told) that Bush is trying to woo them in Spanish? This also shows that he doesn’t believe a common language is a glue that holds together.
