Is that who we want to be as a country?

As for the poll, not surprised at all.

Yet we put up with not enforcing the Constitution and don't bat an eye.

Election 2016: New poll: Donald Trump still leads, but Ben Carson makes strong gains - CBS News

Yeah? Well he's not gaining with this Conservative, and the good pediatric neurosurgeon essentially confirmed last night what I suspected: a tad too much intervention on behalf of "the children" which translates into biddies sticking their beaks into families' lives.

I'm not sure how that plays.
Empathy doesn't seem to be a wanted trait for the GOP base.
Just like with Jon Huntsman last time around, Kasich will not be seen as "conservative enough." That's the problem - the GOP needs to run further to the right. Nevermind that their rhetoric is now bordering on outright fascism, but it needs to be further right to appeal to more voters than just the base. That's the ticket.

I don't think Kasich stands a chance, honestly. The GOP field is a mess. Neither Trump nor Carson could win a general. but the base is enamored with them. Kasich would probably be the best option, but we all know how that has worked out for them.
