40% and if an all out war starts about 75%. You of course will be able to cut that percentage because there will still be a progressive tax system.

If the GOP wins it will be a flat tax with no chance to lower the percentage costing the nation jobs.

Bernie has openly stated he's a socialist. So, why do you support someone who openly states he will raise your taxes and expand government?
He would be my worst nightmare if he had the power to make socialist policy.

You drive on government built highways, fly into an airport run by the FAA, your GPS was invented by the government and is supported by government satellites, you probably went to a public high school and/or college. You feel safe because you have government run police and fire protection, you can take medications and eat foods without being poisoned because they have been approved by the FDA, in the summer maybe you'll take a trip to the Grand Canyon or other natural wonder preserved by the government, and the very fact that you are able to conduct business and make your millions without getting defrauded is due in part to those onerous government regulations we all hate so much.

So I think it's fair for the government to take a pretty big slice.

I actually just watched that video linked above. The biggest bunch of crap I've ever heard.

Cut military spending. Really? Does he watch the news?

Free public colleges and Universities. Great. I hope they teach at the same level and standards as our free public elementary/middle and high schools in this country, because we all know how good those are.

Free healthcare for all. Yay! We can now all have VA healthcare! Just get in line!

People are nuts.

So I think it's fair for the government to take a pretty big slice.

So did the person who makes $40,000 per year. So we can agree that the slice should be the same size as a percentage of the pie?

Also, lets not act like Sanders' policies are "take from the hard workers and give to the lazy" type policies which is what my original comment to you was about.
Great post. I can't for the life of me understand why people think it's A-okay to give our hard earned taxes to big banks and corporate America in the form of bailouts and subsidies and tax cuts, but to institute any programs that help every day working Americans is somehow wrong. People have been brainwashed into voting against their own interests in favor of the self-serving interests of the people who hold all the wealth and power. It makes no sense.

That is too high and mitigates the incentive to work hard. One reason we have so many interns today from other countries, as for them, 50 percent of their salary is a lot of money. To many of my generation who put the fun times of youth aside to earn the big salaries, today, hate the high taxes I believe many younger persons feel the sacrifice of fun times in youth are not worth passing up. Fun today, and whatever comes tomorrow, one is not going to starve, go without housing, and besides, no one would be offensive enough to put down anyone who played their whole life and now lives in government sponsored housing, has SSI to make up for lower than average amounts on Social Security and has the easiest Medicare supplement available, the free form thought, Medicaid supplement.

It seems one could have never worked much and still live in a warm place like California were SSI pays as high as many full-time workers receive on social security. Free Medicaid and when you add it all up, it seems those, who always held low paying jobs end up with less than those who always lived on welfare.

Bernie Sanders and the 'welfare state' might be a late Roman panacea for some people?

Because we had a socialist President who was one of the greatest Presidents in history so believe history will repeat.

Sanders has a great plan for the military. Wants to utilize smaller operations instead of larger mass military.
