Democrats NEED to prove, and quickly, that they are not an enemy of the white working class. I could not believe how quickly Tim Ryan (a young, white, well-spoken Democratic representative from the Youngstown, OH area) was passed over for House Minority Leader for Nancy Pelosi. Tim Ryan is the kind of guy that Democrats need in SOME kind of leadership position to grow the party with the white working class.

Joe Biden could have won this election. He has the charm, personality, and background to appeal to these disaffected former Democrats. Tim Kaine may actually be a strong candidate in 2020, but I feel that he will be passed over simply for being a white male.

Over the past 8 or so years, Democrats have taken identity politics to the extreme. The losses in all levels of government for Democrats during the Obama years are staggering (from local to federal). There needs to be a realignment in Democratic strategy, and playing the same games will not help. Trump, perhaps the most unappealing candidate to both women and minorities and decades, won over the first female nominee. Americans, including women and minorities, are obviously not buying into it.
Who cares what the person looks like. Why don't Democrats just run the candidate with the best ideas to move this nation forward?

Why? Because they made race such an overriding issue they need a Black on the ticket if they hope to get the kind of Black support Obama received.

Bernie Sanders/Michelle Obama in 2020

Michelle Obama/Elizabeth Warren 2024

Or switch Keith Ellison for M. Obama if you like.

No way are the Dems going to put a White man top of the ticket outside of Sanders. Not anymore. Not having moved so far to the left.

Just the thought of a White man at the top of the ticket is enough to **** off some Dem voters.

The next nominee will likely be Corey Booker or Julian Castro

The Democrats ran a female in 2016 and she won the election and the popular VOTE! Putin snatched the
election from her by hacking the voting machines with fraudulent VOTES in the "swing states" for Trump!

That being said, after watching the way women attacked a female candidate this election, maybe a male is a better way to go. Women are simply not ready to look at a female candidate without judging her looks, weight, hair, age, etc. and they do this with no self awareness whatsoever. So sure, a white male candidate would be fine, absolutely. But I won't pretend we can predict who will look good in 2019. Yes, I would have voted for Joe Biden, that's an easy one because I like Joe Biden so much.
I agree that Biden would have been a much better choice to continue the Obama legacy than Hillary.

Hillary lost because of her own baggage; the email scandals and the FBI investigation. It was a close election and had Hillary not have had those marks against her, it likely would have made enough of a difference in PA, MI, and WI to turn the election in favor of Hillary.

Biden wouldn't have had that baggage and would like easily retained the blue wall, thus winning the Presidency. Typically, successful Presidencies are succeeded by their VP running to continue the momentum (Eisenhower/Nixon, Reagan/Bush, Clinton/Gore). It's a shame that didn't happen this time.

Male, female, black white, orange, I don't think it matters who runs for the Democrats in 2020. What's important about the candidate is that she or he has charisma. Charisma was the reason Trump won despite all of his controversies, and the lack of charisma was the reason Hillary lost.

Women are absolutely obsessed with vanity and do not elect based on intelligence or skill. To elect a president based on how flat their hair is or what shade of blue their pantsuit is - women are not ready for prime time yet when it comes to the presidency. Someone said "Hillary, get some roof lift!" That is insane. These were women by the way, not men.
It's not a women thing. Women called her "fat old hag" etc. not because of vanity, but because they simply don't like her to begin with. People who didn't like Trump called him "fat, orange" etc. too. Put a skillful, intelligent, not corrupt woman up and it would be different.
