“"This is not surprising, to see so many people turn out," said Texas Supreme Court justice candidate Kathy Cheng, who had attended the meeting. "My understanding is that [several hundred] people were here today. That's a pretty good turnout for Navasota. And it's not surprising to see voter turnout from all parties. That's what's so great about the campaign; he's got Republicans and Democrats turning out."”
Yes--it was
Shows his ego is not an issue
The fact that it was VFW hall was pretty strategic
Those can be pretty conservative places in small towns -- territorial
And from what I know about east TX--that is not a very liberal area in lot of ways
I hope it shows that Republicans are tired of all the polarization in Washington and want compromise to get things done
Cruz isn't know for that...
Beto has been pushing for months to have debates with Cruz, and it is Cruz who has been stalling and resisting.
Cruz finally came out with a shorter list of dates and locations, starting later in the campaign, and said take or leave it. Beto took it. It is Cruz who is afraid to debate.
Will Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke debate next week? | houstonchronicle.com
Cruz’s campaign dictated a set of rigid terms to O’Rourke, insisting he agree to their plan to hold five debates without any negotiation over the details.
O’Rourke’s campaign said they’ve left messages seeking to hammer out details, and it was Cruz’s campaign that has refused to come to the table to work it all out.
Will debates ever materialize between Beto, Cruz? | WFAA
With a week to go before the first proposed U.S. Senate debate in Texas, Beto O'Rourke's campaign said the Cruz team has finally returned its calls and begun a dialogue on when, where and how the two candidates will meet.
If there's anything that Ted Cruz does extremely well, it's debate people on politics. You may blindly dislike Ted Cruz for various reasons with or without merit but you'd have to be a complete idiot to think that he is scared or worried about debating Roberto, that's Ted Cruz's biggest strong point.

Ok Ted will be screaming “baby killer”, “same -sex loving librul”, “heathen”. Cruz can’t win on likeability, on a likeable POTUS’s coattails or on deeds that he’s accomplished for his constituents. So, he will attempt to win the debate by name calling and pettiness.
For the last time, he has been called Beto since childhood in a very predominantly Mex-American community. That nickname is not considered to be a pejorative in those circumstances like it is in Ted Cruz’ circles and party.

I think Ted is going to bank heavily on his "help" to the SE part of TX during the hurricane last year and maybe his support of Trump's tax plan
He really can't say he approved of Trump's immigration plan because he doesn't
Cruz knows that Texas needs the migrant workers which come in and other illegal labor because many of the businesses like construction, farm labor, poultry plants don't want to pay what someone who is NOT illegal wants to work those jobs...
Lot depends on the questions/the moderators
Cruz is smart--no one said he isn't
But when you watch him talk--he pontificates--
He is more like Hillary than he wants to admit
He is a wonk...just like she is....
And I don't think he could do "folksy" more more than 45 seconds
About as long as it takes to shake someone's hand in a receiving line and say thank you for coming or for your donation...
Cruz's relation to Robert Mercer, of Cambridge Analytica fame, is where Beto should try to stick one of the picadillo sticks they use to wear down the bull in the bull ring...
Not to go after the Russian hacking election thing--but big money supporters
I don't know if the Kochs are really supporting Cruz this time--
Where is he getting his PAC money??
I am really afraid that in October sometime there is going to be some scam like "I Had Beto's Baby" or some kind of collusion with stealing VA money--something to tarnish his name and make him seem like a "bad boy"...
O'Rourke holds moment of silence & praises John McCain in Dallas town hall
“There are decisions that he’s made — votes that he’s cast that you may or may not agree with — but at the end of the day, before he was a Republican and you were a Democrat, before he was a Republican and you were an Independent, before either of us cared about party, he was an American and he was a hero,”

And stories out that Trump refused to put out any positive statement from the WH about McCain --
still the petulant child
That is why his tweet only referred to the family...
In fact, the US flag at the WH is back to full staff
The Capitol flag is half-mast...
