In the 2012 Presidential election I got my Florida Absentee Ballot the day of my flight to NY. I just put it in my purse and planned to mail it in from NY. Then we got hit with Hurricane Sandy. I did not mail it in from NY because I was afraid there might be a problem with mail pick up and delivery,

My flight back was the Monday before the election. Early Voting in Florida was over, but that Monday was a normal 9 to 5 work day at the County Board of Elections. Brought my ballot there.

Know that if you do not mail in your ballot and want to vote at the Polls instead, you must bring your completed Absentee Ballot with you to the polling place. That is how you must vote then, at least that is what I was told in Florida.

Yes, I’ve noted that in a couple of other threads.
The deadline for overseas ballots this year for Florida is Nov. 16.

It is naïve to think voting is the only government program where no fraud takes place. Early voting and excess absentee balloting erodes trust in the system and should be curtailed to some extent.
How do you figure that? Please provide statistics and methodology ...

You need to find another comparison, because this one isn't working. Time to go back to Sesame Street, where we learn "one of these things is not like the other".

Where's the fraud? You register - sign the registration, get a ballot in the mail and vote by mail.

My state checks signatures with what's on file at the DMV.

If you're not registered you cannot vote.

The only problems arise is when a family member votes for another family member....and signs the affidavit.

My county verifies all signatures. If there's a question - they give the voter a chance to respond or vote again.

And you cannot vote twice because the system tracks each vote.

I think early voting should be 2 weeks before election day in all 50 States. What I don't like is "mail-in ballots"

There are way to many problems with signature verification in mail-in ballots.

Every voter should just go to a early voting site and show an ID to the poll worker and their vote will be counted.

Signatures change over time, with age and illness and physical infirmity. Plus younger people don't even learn cursive writing anymore and don't have true signatures. Signature verification is notoriously awful for validating anything. That's why Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express have ditched signatures for using credit cards in retail stores.

These were just the ballot questions on my ballot on my 6 page ballot. Doesn't include all of the elections, plus the judges we had to vote whether or not to retain. It took me about an hour to go through it and fill it all out. Lines would have been around the block, even with early voting, if everyone had to complete a ballot in person. Fortunately we have mail in ballots here, and record participation for a midterm election.

College students must have it. It just needs to be managed better than a 5 th grade class president vote. I mean really, a candidate is runnung the election? Fraud at the stsrting gate. Quit your job , then run. Why does he need the advantage? Loser. Loser for life. He s in the right party.

Given the choice, I would rather do early in-person voting also.

But some people can't get to the polls in person. Elderly could have problems getting out of their home or out of their assisting living facility. Maybe they have limited mobility due to old age or recent surgery or illness. People that travel or have multiple homes(snowbirds, etc) might not be in town during the in-person voting period, thus they use mail-in ballots.

Voter fraud because ballot is mailed in that is a fantasy made up by loser of an election. No one ever complains when their guy wins by a landslide about possible fraud from a mail in ballot. LOL

Voting should be 100% mail in ballot period as I stated before everyone seems to be able to mail in their tax return by 4/15.

I have gotten called on my signature not matching they are looking at it. Maybe a better way would be a code number on your voter registration like a pin number as well. I don't know maybe too complicated I don't even know what happend to my voter registration card.

Most people have a life don't care about politics rather mail it in or not bother with it. I went for many years without even voting before mail in ballots were available. My employer at that time didn't give any breaks for voting, and I was too busy after work with school to vote.
