But Gramm/McCain has offended all Americans across racial, religous lines etc. Don't only ones probably not offended are those with the gain and not the pain.
Laughing out loud I am. They are looking for you in the polling thread. Just read the threads and you will see those who agree and disagree with Gramm.
Don't you know it's okay for those on the right to insult americans? If someone from Obama's camp had said it, they would have been called unpatriotic by the far right.

Really? Double standards? Entrance exam to be patriotic? Wow oh wow and this is the land of the free and the home of the brave? Does that include us?
You said a huge shift in power is coming, and I responded in saying that it wont result in any change.
That isnt something that you "propose a realist alternative to" you simply dont vote for one of the two "popular" candidates right now...ie McCain or Obama because neither of them results in your hypothesis unless you mean the huge shift in power of going from Repubican to Democratic control.
Nope, it has not. But considering we need to get out of there ASAP and that we didnt belong there in the first place, that shouldnt even be an issue.
Taxes also shouldnt be raised in time of an economic down turn.
End the war, stop the spending, and lower taxes.
Makes sense. The Battle will be whose taxes in order to create the largest economic boost. There is that old adage to contend with however - "ya gotta spend money to make money"
Gramm has a valid point, though for the record he was not the one to say anyone clings to guns and religion. But we are a bunch of whiners. This doesn't mean there aren't a lot of people suffering true hardship during this economic downturn, but not nearly the numbers the media would have us believe.
At this point we are still not technically in a recession. We haven't even had a decline in the GDP for one quarter, let alone the 2 you need to make it a recession. We are in an economic slowdown ... not fun, but not a recession.
Did anyone see the lines for the IPhone this morning? Did anyone see the bread lines during the recession? Those people were hoping to get a loaf of bread, this morning they were waiting to spend hundreds for a silly phone they don't need that costs even more to use per month. Doesn't look like hardship to me.
Some of you will say this is all due to the economic stimulus checks. I'm not so sure about that.
So we are not at the bottom of the barrel by any means. And some who believe they're pinching pennies by giving up HBO, cancelling their pedicures and eating out only twice a week instead of 4 times, don't have a clue what hardship is really all about.
Hardship is when you really have to give up everything but the absolute essentials of life, food and shelter, and when it becomes nearly impossible to even find that. Hardship is not worrying when your IPod breaks down, or you have to give up your Hummer.
Some people are hurting; no question. Gramm may have expressed it too harshly, but the fact is that many people are just spoiled whiners and there's no getting around it. Sometimes the truth hurts.
