Explain to me not only what illegals have to do with this plan but how/why you really think illegals are going to go sign up, with the government, for a national plan. His plan is not one where you walk in off the street to any doctor and they care for you under national care. No, no. His plan involves a group plan that you know, since its the government, you're going to have to give your SSN for amongst other things. In that regard, they really have no business in the equation unless you are simply giving the number of them here versus the number of uninsured people in the US.
Taxes are too high? Well brace yourself for what they're going to be in a year or two under either candidate. We're too far in debt for either not to raise taxes. I'd rather pay more in taxes than continue falling into debt to the Chinese.
Illegals DEFINITELY play a part in this because they receive free health care every day that our taxes pay for and that is part of the reason our taxes are so high. Our tax money that is going for health care and education of illegals would go a long way in decreasing the national debt if we cut them off. Don't tell me you think if we have national health care the illegals are not going to be able to get health care. They receive health care NOW, free of charge. They have more "rights" than we do. I see it every day - illegals in hospitals receiving free care, having babies, flooding the emergency rooms, etc. And a lot of them test positive for TB too. We you aware of that?
They have that opporunity. But it starts with getting off your butt and doing something for yourself, not waiting for the govt to do it for you.

I'm not so sure about that but if you make a modest contribution to a 401K every week, the beauty of compound interest will ensure you a retirement of a million or more depending on your age, versus being a government dependent senior living on the bare minimum. Social Security was never meant to be a person's entire income, but since Americans are averse to saving money it's become that way.
Finding a job where your employer matches your 401K contributions at a high rate should be high on the list of job priorities if you have concerns about your retirement.

Not everyone can be in high-paying jobs with health insurance, although I am. I have an education, long years of working up to this job, and I have great benefits.
But, not everyone can do that, and we need people to do the lower-paying jobs, anyway. Not everyone can make a lot of money and afford healthcare on their own, because MOST jobs in the U.S. are not high-paying. The median household income is only $45K. And, we still have children and elderly people in poverty just as we always have.
It's just the facts. People are trying to make it in a terrible economy. The American citizen has been left out of most of the "booming" economy; that has only helped the rich and corporations.
Seriously, I work two jobs and have no insurance coverage, medical or dental. I want to hear from supporters of Obama and McCain, what will your candidate do for me and my health insurance problem?
Why don't you have it and why do you live in such an expensive state?
How will that change anything for the people who take the jobs I leave behind? How will that change anything for the home health provider who cares for those with insurance or who can pay for private care, but who can't afford to see a doctor for her own emergency? How, as a tax-payer, do you figure I'm not paying for health care for others when due to the unaffordability of insurance for millions of people those people become dependant upon the state when they are ultimately debilitated? Where do you think those tax dollars come from?

And, somehow, we have $1B to send to Georgia and who knows how much more for other countries, but cannot provide the same benefit to our citizens that every other industrialized nation provides to theirs.
I am fascinated by all of the people who believe that the answer is 'just get another job.' Do you know what happens when you change jobs and/or carriers?
First, you usually have to wait at least six months before the new insurer will cover you.
Second, anything you were being treated for previously becomes a pre-existing condition that may not be covered for up to one year and possibly not at all, if the new insurer deems such coverage 'extraordinary.'
I believe that Sen. Obama will work hardest to close the loopholes and provide the most care to the greatest number of people.
