"White privilege is when you can get pregnant at seventeen like Bristol Palin and everyone is quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter, and that no one has a right to judge you or your parents, because “every family has challenges,” even as black and Latino families with similar “challenges” are regularly typified as irresponsible, pathological and arbiters of social decay."

"White privilege is when you can claim that being mayor of a town smaller than most medium-sized colleges, and then Governor of a state with about the same number of people as the lower fifth of the island of Manhattan, makes you ready to potentially be president, and people don’t all **** on themselves with laughter, while being a black U.S. Senator, two-term state Senator, and constitutional law scholar, means you’re “untested.”
"

"White privilege is being able to make fun of community organizers and the work they do--like, among other things, fight for the right of women to vote, or for civil rights, or the 8-hour workday, or an end to child labor--and people think you’re being pithy and tough, but if you merely question the experience of a small town mayor and 18-month governor with no foreign policy expertise beyond a class she took in college--you’re somehow being mean, or even sexist.
"

Reading that makes me cringe to no end but I am not sure I can say that's wrong either.

Oh GOD.

Just when I thought I had enough of that race analytical sociology BS in college and left it all behind me, the un(der)employed lib-kids have to drag it out as if it's new and profound.

I'm telling you folks, this is only the beginning of the mind-numbing, cliche and predictable "analysis" that we will all be subjected to by angry race pimps leading up to and after this election.

Sigh.

(BTW, the only part of that article that even hints at what "white privilege" is the first paragraph regarding Bristol Palin. Even then, Bristol and boyfriend are getting married and owning up to their responsibilities, so even that is moot.)

Nice try though. Looks like "Tim Wise" is trying to sell more books being the Uncle Tom of the white people, lol.

Cheap slogan talk seems to be all you're worth.

The article points out the glaring hypocrisy in this country (especially from the right), nothing more, nothing less.

Turning this election into a race issue are we?

Trust me, you definitely don't want to go there.

Someone needs a time out for being so jealous.

Forgot to mention she was a Governor, the most popular in the US and took her state from being in debt badly to having a HUGE surplus of money.

Get real.

Anyone can make fun a any community organizer who failed to accomplish anything other then build a shack for birds to crap in.

Get over it already.

This post is racist itself.

If anything she has to work harder to prove to nitwits she is far more qualified to be VP then even the other candidate whom you are referring to.

If anything Obama because of him being 1/2 black has been given a free ride because people are afraid to ask him real questions.

Sad when a candidate who is less qualified then any of the 4 candidates has a chance to become President when it is clear he does not deserve even the opportunity to do so. He has not earned this right.
