I'm watching Barbara Boxer, world-class idiot and liberal elitist, actually say on Fox News that Senators McCain and Obama going to Capitol Hill to work on the economic crisis is not as important as listening to them talk about it tomorrow night.

I agree with her. They're running for president and we need to see how well they understand the economy and what their ideas are to lead the U.S. out of this mess. They can both afford a couple of hours to give us a glimpse of their views on economic reform.

Do you people have no concept about the indicators that prove the seriousness of where our economy is today -- and the potential effect that it has on not only everything to do with our mode of living but the entire World Market?

I agree with her as well. Neither of them is president. We have a president and a team of financial experts and economists to rectify this situation. What do people really expect Obama and McCain to bring to the table? Neither McCain nor Obama has the expertise to be coming up with ideas nor do they have the power to put them into motion. All that they could provide us with is their view on the situation-how we got here, whether the bailout is a good idea, and what we can do to ensure it doesn't happen again-which is what we would get from a debate.

And you're right--it's not a prize fight. But don't we all deserve to hear what the candidates plan to do about it? This is a chance for both of them to show us what kind of leaders they'll be. McCain is treating it like a date he needs to cancel because something came up at work.
Mr. McCain had earlier urged Mr. Bush to convene an emergency meeting with congressional leaders from both parties - including himself and Mr. Obama - and to continue meeting until they forge a deal.
The Republican candidate cancelled a planned appearance Wednesday night on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman, and said he would suspend fundraising and pull his campaign's TV ads off the air. He still plans, however, to address a conference in New York hosted by former president Bill Clinton.
He predicted the administration's original proposals, which would give the U.S. Treasury Department broad latitude to bail out troubled firms, would not be approved by a deeply divided Congress.
"We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved," Mr. McCain said in a statement.

John McCain wants to immediately tackle this case on what will be a fallen economy if not fixed. Democrats on here it seems would rather see "yes or no" debates than see our presidential candidates take action rather than talking.
