Massachusetts is a pretty racist place for the northeast. Moreso than most other places. Racism is alive and well all throughout the south, and anyone who claims otherwise is probably one of the racists we're talking about. I know people who don't consider themselves racist, but then will yell out "N!gger" the window at a black man crossing the street in front of their car. Arkansas is probably the most backwards state in the union (come on, no denying that...look at Mark Pryor the DEMOCRATIC senator who claimed that intelligence is not a qualification for elected office) and these maps prove that. Think it's a coincedence that the places that shifted to the right are places where segregation and discrimination are alive and well? The places that shifted are the places most associated with Rural white people. How could that be seen as anything other than racism?

The big cities seem to have a strong proiduction of balck leaders claiming that their cities are run by white racist. Then look at where racist gangs are the most powerful.California is the biggest gang state in the country followed closely by many northeast states. In many the gangs have long divided the cities. In fact the mobs in the Northeast made a policy of selling to blacks as recorded on FBI tapes.Go in the wrong neighborhood and you wouldn't worried about being called names but will be lucky if you don't endup in the hospital or funeral home.You need to get around more.

Arkansas has always been a pretty evenly split state between the Republican and Democrat until this year, when most states trended Democratic we trended sharply Republican. Why?
Many Arkansans are abhorred with the though of having a man of color in the White House. Racism abounds and its everywhere. Living in the Ft. Smith area, I've heard the N word thrown around like its 1957. People praise certain school districts because they don't have any "coloreds". People complain about Little Rock being a filthy God-forsaken place because that's where "all them blacks" live.
When, if ever, is this state going to move past skin color?

The reason for this is not lack of funding, but a fact of priority. Here in Arkansas, and throughout the South, a majority of educational funding goes towards athletics. A school may have 10 year old, falling apart textbooks, but they can still come up with the money to build a bigger football stadium.

Kansas has very good schools. North and South Dakota have very good schools, even though they don't waste excessive amounts of money on them.... like your liberal states do to no avail.
Texas is reported to have excellent schools.
Utah, Montana, Idaho... I don't think any of those are in the lower ranks....

Apparently you haven't been to the southwest. There is out and out racism there, worse than any that the south could possibly have. I guess that is ok with you since they voted for Obama though. Also, NM has one of the worse education systems in the country. Really and honestly, CA education system is not that good anymore and it specifically is geared toward the non-English speaking illegal alien. Sad really.

You definitely have a point there! Everything revolves around football and deer hunting. Football is God,but not with me. Too much money is spent on athletics and not enough on education all the way up to the college level.
My grandpa said there would be another civil war in this country at some point. It turns out he may have been right after all. The only difference is this time it will be Red vs Blue instead of Blue vs Gray. It's really sad to see the comments made by people in this thread. It's amazing how people from one part of the country can hate people from another part of the country.
Also known as the "I hate black people" belt: Counties that went redder in 2008 than 2004. Does anyone notice a pattern here?
