You forgot to include the all-imoportant phrase, "In my opinion" in your post.
The greed of Americans is damaging Americans the most. Buying things with a plastic card, knowing full well they can't afford it. Taking out loans on houses far beyond their means. Driving cars that not only pollute the earth, but are too expensive for their income. Going out to eat dinner three times a week. Debt of Americans on average has skyrocketed. Americans save -5% of their income a year on average, which means the average American not only spends every penny s/he earns, but goes into debt a further 5% as well.
The greed of corporations, CEO's, etc plays a part. Many are crumbling. These corporations are controlled by people.
Yes, the government can take partial credit, stemming back decades. Bush furthered along the process, no doubt.

It's funny that you create a poll which satirizes the stupidity of some of the people on the right, then some other people on the right take it seriously and say things that are equally if not more apt responses to the original. At the same time, they don't leave comments decrying the other poll. And to top it all off, they accuse you of having ideological blinders. Priceless lack of perspective, but I suppose that's what makes one a conservative in the first place.
