Ok, I work for Department of Defense and my sister works for VA. She said that at her hospital in South Carolina and in the VA's largest hospital in Tampa, they have yet to hang pictures of any of the new administration, which is required in ALL VA buildings. Am I paranoid to have a strong feeling this has everything to do with his being black? She asked her hospital's public affairs person and they said the pictures would be ready in March. MARCH?! We've known who won since November 2008 and the official picture was available for print since before the inarguration.
If any of you work for VA and have your pictures up already, feel free to sound off here. I'd be interested to know if this is just a coincidence. Meanwhile, I'll just sit here and stew in suspicion.
Tyranny of the people can be just as brutal as tyranny of the crown
- John Adams
here is an example of "tyranny of the people."
mandatory hanging a picture of stalin, saddam, hitler or any "national 'leader'" is a tyrannical idea. we live in a free country. a president is nothing other than a public servent of the people. he has a very important job to do for the people but nothing more. (Ask Thomas Jefferson what he did on his inorgaration day if you don't believe me)
It is nice and respectful to have a picture of your president on your wall, a hospital may proudly display the picture of the president, but it should never be enforced. just like it is nice to fly the flag of the US by your hospital of office or house but you don't have to do it.
People who voted for Obama, yay for you! you won! but don't start using him and his pictures to opress others.

Actually, it makes me wonder why some people are so paranoid, and read all manner of crap into every situation.
There could easily be about a thousand legitimate reasons why the portrait of Our Savior isn't yet on the wall. But let's just say it's because of bigotry and racism, shall we?
Good for them. It is their right if they don't want to hang pictures of America's biggest mistake. You think when we took this country from England that the founding fathers were thinking that we should be forced to hang pictures of Socialist on our walls? No, it is our right to not hang photos of a socialist muslim.
Apparently when we took this country from England some of us didn't take the English language with them, as displayed by the woeful grammar in the above post.

Did you complain about Bush's photo?
Didn't think so.
in response to a query from several constituents, senators bill nelson and mel martinez issued a joint statement today.
"several parties have contacted my office concerned about the fact that obama's picture is not hanging in the tampa va hospital. We would like to address the allegations that racism is involved", stated senator nelson. "the issue is not racism, but just the opposite. The official picture sent sent via email was in fact a "colored" picture. Government offices were notified of the error minutes after the email was sent", he continued.
"president obama has requested that federal agencies only hang black and white photos, out of respect for his recently deceased grandmother, as well as all anglo-americans", continued martinez. "we hope that american's understand the delay. President obama was concerned about the implications of hanging a color photo in public offices. He promised to be the president for all americans. He intends to keep that promise."
"president obama has assured us that a revised image will be sent via email as soon as possible. We ask that you direct all further comments to the white house", concluded senator martinez.
the tampa tribute contacted the white house for further clarification. White house press secretary robert gibbs issues a brief statement:
"president obama is aware of the issue. He wanted to personally send the new picture himself via email. He is working closely with rim to develop a new black & white berry. As soon as his new device has been cleared by the fbi, he will personally send a new picture via email to all federal agencies for display."
on a side note, gibbs noted that from today forward, all electronic mail sent to women would be referred to as "femail", stating obama was concerned about the sexist implications of the word "email".
If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, maybe you could call the White House and request some 8"X10" glossies, take them to Michael's and have them matted and framed and then donated them to the facilities you are complaining about. Consider it your civil duty.
OK, so has anyone called the VA and ask where the pix is? And I don't mean the receptionist, but call and demand to speak with the director?
Until that has been done, we know nothing of the situation. So how about it, OP?
