No. I only clarified the Ingrian/Izhorian thing as they are often confused. The Veps, Izhorians and Votes are native to Ingria, while the Ingrians were settlers and considered "our". Just like the Protestant Karelians are "our", while the Orthodox Tver/Olonets Karelians are not.

Interesting to see the flag, though. A Scandinavian cross flag seems quite odd in today's Russia. Maybe only a Saint Petersburgher proud of his/her heritage and history.

BTW, reminded me of when the Ukraine crisis was as its height, the Finnish national broadcaster went to Saint Pete to feel the pulse and asked locals "ok, are we enemies now?". The people said: "you the Finns? No you're ok, we only hate the Muscovites".

( And all the rest ( except for the "left wingers" I'd guess) that have the grievances with the current government ( the opposition with other words) joined the march.

It's not the "pancakes with quark" Ariete - it's more like crepe(s)

This is what they look like:

One Italian guy I know on FB got hooked on "сырники" ( yeah, made out of quark too...)

BTW, my town has a big pancake cook-off in the downtown square every 4th of July. (National holiday) It's a tradition in this town. Anyone could take a photo of the proceedings and put your caption on it: "Hungry Americans eat pancakes in town square". They might even be able to put a nationality spin on it: "Hungry Hispanics eat pancakes in public square while America celebrates Independence Day".

You do realize that scenes like this are from films, right? This doesn't happen in real life. It's fantasy.

In the north of Russia harsh nature.
It is.
That's why people are inventive and do what it takes to solve the problems, quick.
It's just the solutions sometimes look very *unexpected.*
