I second the dont come to the gym if you are sick . I mean come on we all know this is cold and flu season . Wait till you are completely well before working out . Working out while you are sick is very bad for your body and can hinder your healing process .
I get annoyed with people who hog the resistance machines and stay seated in between sets so no one can use it.
That's my peeve, too. They sit there like they're in their living room, fidding with their Smart Phones and iPads or chatting with their friends. There were three young guys the other night who were tag-teaming. One used a machine while the other two sat on nearby machines, chatting and watching. Then they'd rotate and the next one would exercise on another machine while the other two chatted and watched. Grrr!
One woman I worked with went to the gym with the express purpose of socializing, so I wouldn't say the whole "gym is not for picking up women" applies to all women.
The one time I decided to use the shower I got plantar warts, which I cured myself by using canned air on them to freeze them into submission. Of course people with all sorts of diseases are going to come and use the equipement.
One of the things I hated the most were those pig-dogs (and they were always men) would wouldn't re-rack their weights or take 45lb plates off leg presses, etc, when they were done.
1. Have to go hunting around the gym for the weight.
2. Having to pull 10 45 pound plates off a machine is effin' annoying as hell...why the F should I have to do that?

OUCH !!!! . I struggle to pull one of those monster plates. I would faint if I decided to lift 10 of them. I go light when it comes to lifting weights and focus on doing more repetitions. Anything over 40 lb is way too heavy for my hands to pull, though my legs can push up to 180 lb max. I usually layer 6 30 lb plates instead of 4 45 lb ones because 30 lb is possible for me to lift with my hands.
Anyways, there is this 75 year old guy who rests for 15 minutes on the weight machines and does only 5 repetitions. Quit hogging the machine. I am guilty of this too, but usually it happens after I have overstressed myself with 50+ repetitions in 1 set and can barely move.

Good example of what not to do at the gym. You should not be doing 50+ repetitions in 1 set. You need to hire a trainer or read up on how to work out. You need to add weight so that you can do no more than 12 reps in each set. What you are doing has very little benefit.
I also agree with the others who have mentioned reracking the weights. It is not enough just to rerack them, but to also rerack them in the proper place. I hate when I need a 10 lb plate and they are under three 45 lb. plates that I have to remove first.
