I'm sure this has been asked before, but for people who work out at gyms and take classes, are you wearing masks? I'm asking because I started going back to the gym and taking group classes. Right now I am wearing a mask, but no one else is. I feel odd wearing one but very nervous about Covid. Thanks.

My Gym opened up about 3 months after the covid thing started. So I've been going 5 to 7 days a week at the busy time ever since. Initially about 1/4 of the people who came back wore masks. I would say its about 2% now. You should do what you feel comfortable with. You never mentioned your general health.
My general health is good BUT I got the flu last week—a very mild version. I’m very active, 65, take supplements, vegetarian. I took a packed Zumba class which I really enjoyed and wore a mask. It didn’t affect my workout except to say that I felt stupid. I’m thinking if I got the flu, I must be vulnerable but the class was great and very different from doing it at home.

My elderly mom (87) recently got covid (we have it too now...luckily vaccinated...still sucks big time!). Has been doing outside aerobics 3x/week since pandemic started while they were building new inside gym last few years. She just started inside last week first time (nobody had masks)...I think she caught covid there. Going to make her wear mask from now on (she doesn't want to be only one with mask), or may find another gym where elderly can still do aerobics outside which I feel is much safer. Will see if outside aerobics option still possible where she is at..she said windows not even open in new inside aerobics room either?! Going to have a talk with aerobics teacher and Management pronto! Definitely wear mask inside to minimize your risk regardless of what others are doing!

I can’t wear a mask doing cardio but I make sure I go early enough that there aren’t a ton of people in the cardio area so i can maintain distance. On lifting days I do wear a mask because there’s no avoiding being closer to people than I want. I am one of the few who wears a mask.
And I’ve avoided group fitness classes, especially cycling, for the same reason.

No. I do not wear a mask in the gym. In 2020 we did, and perhaps a part of 2021, but no masks in the gym in many many months.
It depends. If I have been around someone who tested positive yet (I tested negative) then I wear a mask. My gym is fairly spacious so at all times I try to maintain a level of social distance from others. The exception being the dumbbell section. It's a much smaller space and popular space making distancing about impossible.
I don't attend exercise classes but I have noticed in a typical class of 20 people, 2 -3 people are wearing mask. As other have stated, do whatever makes you feel comfortable. While those wearing mask stick out, I don't think anyone judges them or sees them in a negative light. Some masks are actually very cool looking.
