My gym is in my basement.

3 days of weight training a week, 3 days of cardio a week.
In the summer my cardio will move outside.

Cardio/weight machines. I prefer walking/running outdoors, but that isn't always possible.

My gym time is usually between 6 and 7 a.m.; everyone else has bed head and there's no preening, flirting, or showing off. Isn't that what bars are for?

I tried a cardio class or two, but all that woo-hooing doesn't motivate me; it just makes me want to strangle everyone else in the class. LOL. Same with the spinning classes; shut up already!

I'd love to do yoga in a class at the gym, but yoga classes don't start at my gym until 8 p.m. I'm in my jammies by then ...

The pool/hot tub frighten me; I might as well dive into a bottle of pure bleach.

My routine is usually some weight training and cardio within the same time limit. Split days--one day upper body, next day lower body. I tend to use the compound machine so I don't have to worry about improper form (lol). Then head on to the cardio room--I vary which machine I use so my body isn't used to the same thing. Running is not my favorite but one day I will force myself to get outdoors and do this..

Default re

I have a question about free weights. Everybody is talking about doing free weights at the gym. Usually free weights go 10lb inclements and I do 3 sets increasing weights by 5 pounds. I can't do exercises (shoulders lateral raise etc) going from let's say 10lbs to 20lbs. Can you guys give me some input. I really want to start using free weights instead of machines. Thank you.

My gym has 10, 12, and 15 lb. dumbbells. After that, they are in 5lb increments.
