I took Hoodia for several months and didn't lose a pound. Don't drugs like Alli work by basically giving the person diarrhea so that's truly why they lose weight?
Several years ago I started taking 3 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil every day and lost 15 lbs in approx 2 months. The bad part is it caused terrible stomach pain. I started hanging out with some friends that ate out every night and the weight all came back.

Not really. I don't remember what the generic name of Alli is, but I took it years ago (10 years, maybe), when you had to get it as a prescription. It blocks some of your fat absorption, so you have to be careful to eat a low-fat diet. Your BMs will be normal in that case. IF your diet is too high in fat (maybe you think you can still eat fast food and just take Alli to block the fat), you will get diarrhea.
It worked pretty well for me, but I stopped taking it because it wasn't covered by insurance at the time.
I think you're talking about Xenical. My niece has been taking it, it's still by prescription, and is a fat-blocker. She's lost 40 pounds over the past six months...still has more to lose. You're right though, it will cause diarrhea if you eat alot of high fat food.
To the OP...if you go into someplace like Vitamin Shoppe they can tell you about some of the weight loss supplements that are popular. I took Lipo 6 for a couple months. It's basically a combination of caffeine and herbs, but it did give me just that little lift that I needed to get to the gym. I only took one a day, but you can take more. You just have to be careful, stuff like that should not become a way of life, which I'm sure the personal trainers on here will tell you.
Self-discipline is the best drug, but sometimes it's hard to come by.

Yep, that was the name. Thanks! I thought it was the same thing as Alli--maybe it's a different strength as a prescription?
Yeah, I'm not too sure about Alli....probably similar. It's kind of funny though because my niece has become afraid of eating high fat foods because of the diarrhea. Maybe the Xenical just scares you into eating right. But actually she has been losing weight so it's helping her. She was about 100 pounds overweight.
this one's a good thread! no better way to see which works and which doesn't.
