"I know I live in the projects, but my man HAS to have a car and make over 60K"

I am not fat and never have been, nor have I even had a gut, but I remember getting annoyed in my 20s when I'd see fat women complain about how mean men are with regards to a woman's weight, but they will be the first to shoot down a heavy set, stocky or guy w/a beer belly

I female friends that fall into the big category and I've seen them shoot down men cold for even having a bit of a gut, let alone being fat, even if the woman is like one of my freinds who is 5'4/280lbs

What's worse is this post using "science" to justify why it is okay for her to be big and not for a guy. DISGUSTING!

Reminds me of those dating profiles I come across (usually women who've viewed me) where the woman says "I know I might be a big girl, but I don't do big men", or "I'm big so I have to have a skinny guy", "real men like curves", "i may be fat, but my men have to be athletic, sorry".

Like WTF does that mean?

You're entitled to your preferences, but the double standards are insane, and people actually buy into the crap.
Pure gold. Your post is 100 percent spot on.

Sure they can. People can control what they want to control.

Ya think? And of course, if it's pointed out maybe she should give other types of guys a chance it's usually, "but I don't LIKE fat guys ughhhhhhh". Then we'll say, "but you're fat yourself!", she''ll say something retarded like "I know I'm fat, but that's why I need a buff guy..... so he can throw me around...........it compliments me better............."

Or we say, "No short guys? You're 4'11, what's wrong with that 5'5 or 5'7 guy over there?"...... She'll say "Ewwww no, that's way too short".

Okay???................ Lol. She's almost 40 now. Lol
That woman is going to end up old, bitter and all alone. And it's richly deserved. Couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Being fat isn't always about laziness. A variety of hormonal problems can cause people to get fat in spite of a rigorous exercise regime. Thyroid is the most obvious. There can be all kinds of hormonal imbalances and other medical conditions that cause fat buildup.

Jet, if you're a 13 at 6'1, you're thin! You're doing well for yourself!

Obesity is so much more common than it used to be. So can hormonal problems be that big of a factor? If so that must mean something has changed in food that is causing more hormonal problems.

I think that's a big issue...high fat/sugar foods are satiating, but do not keep you full for very long. You end up eating more in the long run which can cause you to gain weight, and that combined with the high calories of the food can easily let you gain weight quickly.

As for me, I have an enzyme issue that causes my body to metabolize sugars and fat in a weird way. It's extremely difficult for me to maintain my weight, much less lose it. 7 months of working out nearly every day and keeping my caloric intake at around 1600 calories per a nutritionist and I lost a whole 12 lbs. Woo.

If a women is fat to me it is an outward sign she has low self esteem, low discipline, and a self control problem. All of those are not really good traits in a mate.

Notice I said outward sign maybe her reality is very different. But in all honesty dating is not a charity and the perception will win over the reality every time on the first impression.

This is ridiculous... ever read the laws of Thermodynamics? First, look at the extremes; if you eat 1M Calories a day, you will gain weight. If you eat zero Calories a day, you will lose weight. (unless Rudolf Clausius was wrong, NOT), so somewhere between 1M an 0 Calories a day you will be able to maintain a healthy weight. Simple enough.
