Lmao!.
I saw them on the runway, last year. Trust me, they were not cheap.
I know it´s "art", but you have to be high on something to come up with that.

Figured I'd better make a contribution.

I actually own a pair of these. You really can't tell from the photo, but they're significantly wider at the bottom than the top. It's like wearing a pair of rubber-soled clogs. Cabela's sells them as slippers but calls them Alaskan Guide Low Sneakers. Personally, I don't think they look like either. They're comfortable and tough enough to stomp around outside in winter (I've stomped through snowbanks and 3" deep slush puddles in mine), but man are they fugly. Cabela's has a full line of functional yet fugly footwear, come to think of it.

File:Jean-Étienne Liotard 007.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some of these call to mind pattens that were worn in many parts of the world to protect the shoe. Don't suppose they had quite the embellishment seen on some of the examples we've seen here!

Pattens are protective overshoes that were worn in Europe from the Middle Ages until the early 20th century. Pattens were worn outdoors over a normal shoe, had a wooden or later wood and metal sole, and were held in place by leather or cloth bands. Pattens functioned to elevate the foot above the mud and dirt (including human effluent and animal dung) of the street, in a period when road and urban paving was minimal. - from Wikipedia

Oh my god, I'm cracking up at work over some of this ridiculous footwear. The funniest thing is imagining someone walking around in them not understanding how hideous and/or outrageous they are.
