What's so special about any high-quality handbag? Why are you picking on Michael Kors? The MK bags are the opposite of cheesy, btw. They're understated and well-made, like most high-quality purses. They last a lifetime. Do you even know what "cheesy" means? It doesn't sounds like it.

They're just that ... cheap. They're poor quality and fall apart and look worn much quicker than higher quality bags.

They are simply the popular thing right now. A few years ago it was Louis Vuitton. At one point one bag was around $500, which was doable for someone who had a job. Give it another 3-5yrs, some other designer will be popular.
I have a few MK pieces; 2 bags and one pair of shoes. All are well made and I buy them because they look good, very durable, and aren't too expensive. I'm also a fan of Kate Spade bags, which are around the same price points. Again, all well made, but not out of reach like Chanel. Why do you care anyway? Let people buy what they want to buy. I hate it when I'm carrying my MK bag and someone blurts out to me, "I don't like Michael Kors." Like I care to know.
I did not buy it because I want people to think I'm rich. I didn't think of you or anyone when I went to the department store the other day.

definition of cheesy: kardashian, snooki, real housewives of any city, lady gaga, any lady at nightclub wearing cheesy dresses.
the other day i saw a extremely rich-lady-wannabe(wearing a cheap giant ring, large sunglasses with those ugly sparkles, leopard pants) carrying one of those purses and she has two kids under 7 years old present with her. that lady is not setting a good example for her children if she continues to dress like that.
a fine quality woman should wear jeans, tennis shoes, baseball cap, and carry a cheap but good lookin purse.

Why do you care? Is your money being used to purchase the handbags? Do you work for the competition so you are degrading MK's?
If you don't like them don't spend your money on them but try and refrain from telling others what they can spend their money on and why they should or should not purchase what they want.
