For years I've been wearing LL Bean jeans. I like that they come in petite lengths, have flannel lined ones for winter and have always liked that they have deep pockets.

So...this past Saturday, I was in their store nearest to where I live. I was considering buying another pair of flannel jeans. As is my habit, I checked the front pockets---and they had changed. Now they are the worthless very shallow ones. I checked the pockets on some of their other style jeans---same problem.

A sales clerk saw me checking the pockets and I mentioned how they had changed---and not for the better. She told me that I wasn't the first one to notice. In fact, she had heard complaints from several women. She had no idea as to why LL Bean did this but did say that she was going to pass along feedback to management.

I sent an email to customer service and got an answer very quickly---not that it was much help. Basically, they said they would pass along my comments to the appropriate department.

Well...I like having deep pockets in jeans. I did tell customer service that if this didn't change, I wouldn't be buying their jeans anymore.

To those who do wear LL Bean jeans, what are your thoughts on this change? Will you continue to buy their jeans or look for a different brand? If it is the latter, any good brand recommendations?

LL Bean isn't the only manufacturer with this issue. Almost every manufacturer short changes us women by not offering pockets, or substandard ones. Also it's not just LL Bean jeans. I have a LL Bean coat and the pockets are just as bad on the coat. They are shallow and slanted, so things can fall out. I have coats from other manufacturers with similar shallow/slanted pockets.

You are correct.

When I shop for jeans, I check the pockets first. If they are worthless, I don't even bother trying them on.

I expected that LL Bean would never give up the deep pockets. After all, much of their clothing is geared to outdoor activities. When I emailed them, I told them that a woman out for a walk on a walking trail doesn't want to take a purse with her. She wants deep pockets so she can carry her ID and keys.

I just bought a couple of pairs of Levis with the useless pockets. It annoys me, but they fit so well I bought them anyway.

I've been known to have front pockets on many of my jeans/pants sewn closed and remove rest of pocket.

Less material. Slimmer look. No baggy/saggy.

I have a couple pair of distressed that have pockets shown closed. ( Checked to make sure the pocket was gone. I know some coats/jackets baste stitch them closed like back pleats)

Yes!! No pockets! Me likey.

You can go online to the product, and post a negative review. That gives the company feedback, and if others are doing same, it could have an effect.

I don't have pockets removed, but yeah, I'm not a fan of pocket either. I don't want bulk there.

I have one pair of petite LLBean jeans from a few years ago. I'm an LLBean fan. And I LOVE those flannel lined ones - in fact, I a wearing them NOW! (It's COLD here)

I WAS going to order another pair for Christmas. But the DEEP POCKETS - unusual in women's jeans - were one of the very attractive factors.

Thank you for letting me know.

To each his own.

I like having deep pockets. Sometimes, I don't take a bag when I go out. Pockets are a good place for my wallet and keys.

Hopefully, LL Bean will come to their senses.

I was so disappointed to see what they did with the pockets. At least I'm not the only one who isn't happy about it.

If they don't come to their senses, do you know of another brand of jeans that has deep pockets and petite length jeans?

I told my husband that people must think I'm weird because the first thing I check when shopping for jeans is the pockets. I think that's what caused the sales clerk at LL Bean to ask me if I needed help. Glad I had that conversation about the pockets with her as I learned that lots of women were complaining about it.
