I saw some of this last season and a lot more now. I was browsing around looking for tunics and quite a few have this "look" now.
Personally, I'm not crazy about it. I just can't see myself in it. It doesn't feel like me.
What's your take? Do you own any cold shoulder pieces?
I like it, it can look really cool. My holiday party dress this year had a cold shoulder. And I have one top. I saw another tempting one, and I may get that. Depending on the design it can be somewhat timeless. But also not super practical.
I have a cold-shoulder top, and I like it, and it's fine...but yeah...a LOT of the stores are carrying a LOT of cold shoulder clothing. I was in our local Gordman's yesterday, and it's practically the only kind of tops they carried. Lord knows, I don't want ALL my summer wardrobe being ALL cold shoulder.
And also...the whole off-the-shoulders thing...I GOTTA wear a bra...so it's a look that frustrates me a little.
Yeah, I get the practicality issue that many of you mention. I've seen quite a few that have just a strap where the bra strap would be, then a gap in fabric, then the remainder of the sleeve. I'm thinking it would be a crapshoot to get the strap of the top continually aligned with the bra strap.
As fleetiebelle said - nothing wrong with the style, it just doesn't feel like me. And it seems that because there is so much of it, finding alternatives in everyday casual type tops is more of a hunt.
I can see it being a good look for beach type wear or an evening party dress like jade408 has. Just for an everyday tunic though, it seems "overdone" to me. A lot of them have a lot of trim, bold fabric patterns, huge bell sleeves or multiple slits and the garment just seems too busy to me.
It's a good look for plus sizes, because the strap is there to cover the bra strap (a small safety pin will keep them continually aligned) and the sleeve hides the underarm area.

I don't like it either. Fortunately, there are plenty of tunics that don't have it. I think it looks cheap, like a trend that will be over in a flash.
